What is the length of the rail - looks to be about 5 feet? I bought your plans and will be adding your great infeed to the stand I'm building for my brand new Ridgid R4518 (arbor is much longer than DW for dado set) that replaces a Dewalt 7480 that became almost unusable due to constant fouling of the blade up/down mech. DW-40 is the only quick fix but it seems to exacerbate the problem by attracting dust. I'll never buy a Dewalt again 'cause they no longer support a dado set but mostly for the dust fouling that is so typical for all DW's - you'd think some engineer (I'm retired EE) could fashion some plastic or tin housing around the up/down mech. You are right your infeed support is a game changer it really facilitates using a giant sled (can't wait for it to snow - unlikely here in Florida) and I expect I'll be using my track much less.

Excellent thought process and stepping up to satisfying your own expectations as you build. If it doesn’t meet expectations stay with it until it does. That is a much needed drive we are lacking many times when we settle for “Good enough” mentality in our society. I really appreciate your design and build and then making your work available online!

That contact adhesive does not look like any I have ever used - it looks much better and easier to use. What type/brand is it?
@DesireToInspire112 күн бұрын
I do agree with you, I had to look around a lot to find it my self. It's a water based contact cement from 3M. It is really good! It's just like thin paint, so easy to work with.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. Super precise (way more than I am, but I can inspire to be more like you). I was watching and couldn't for the life of me figure our what you were up to with the wooden blocks and then attaching the pieces of metal to them and also the screw in adjustable screws until you briefly showed in the video what they were used for! GENIUS! Adjustablility!!!

I'm trying to build a table of my own. You are like watching the final boss on a video game. I'm absolutely blown away by the job you have done on this table. I would say I was going to do one just like it, but I would be lying to myself, lol. So I'll just admire your work and hope to be this gifted one day.

This is a very nice design. One needs to use the sub-base it was designed for, as well as the same size/diameter bit initially used.

Prety nice, but now think about having the dusty side of this, completely isolate from the rest of the mechanism.

Bought the plans and have finished the frame. Now need to start on the top. I would say that this is quite straightforward (and I’m a relative novice) as long as you start with straight square timber. I had a local shop cut and plane me the timber to size. The plans use a different method for fitting the pivot to the table for the flip top. It’s better as it allows for adjusting the height of the flip top to ensure that it’s level with the worktop. (See the video at 27.:50 - if everything is mm perfect then when you push the pivot tube through the flip top the flip top and worktop will be flush but, it has to be built mm perfect or that won’t happen - hence the revised method in the plans. It was a bit confusing having watched this several times, to find there was a different system in the plans. Apart from that it’s a good set of instructions. 👍

This is great stuff. I'm thinking of building my own acrylic bending machine. When you were marking the angle guide it occurred to me that you could have printed one out on a printer then glued it onto the wooden frame. Just a thought.

Do I understand correctly?Should I always use the same diameter of blade I used when I made the jig? Because otherwise using a larger blade will gnaw at the jig. And if so, what diameter of milling blade do you recommend using?
