Hi, right now they’re at 22C. I watched a care video from Prime Time Aquatics saying they had them living a long healthy life at low temps as well as high temps, around 28C. They’re not really only cold water fish apparently, so I am giving them a go. We’ll see in summer :)

I don't have any experience of Oase filters because the filter i use is brilliant. Ehime Pro 3 the twin inlet version (you can get a thermal version). The pre filter on the pro 3 is a tray at the top of the filter with a course sponge this tray collects so much crap i very rarely have to clean my course, medium and fine sponges. Also when the intakes sucks up fry and young shrimp they will live quite happily in the pre-filter tray until i rescue them every couple of weeks or so. The flow rate is very good i have all my trays tightly packed with media all in all i love the filter well built quiet and easy to maintain

Have the exact model. It was raved about but it’s absolute rubbish and I’ve had nothing but problems. As for Oase customer service……when you’re told to buy a faulty part as they want you to send the whole filter back rather than that tiny bit you know it’s shocking! I’ll be going back to fluval

I strongly disagree with some of your points. - The in/outlet is easy to decouple from the filter. Your cabinet being small is not the fault of the filter. Poor planning. - The priming button being on the top is standard. Again, you can't blame the filter for your cabinet being small. The dimensions of the filter is listed when you buy it. Poor planning if anything. - Flow is pretty decent, but has never been a selling point for oase filters. It's listed on the box though.

i agree with stems being too high maintainance. i want to create something like yours as well. recently i have been more inclined towards low maintaince low tech aquascapes that require less effort from me😂

Quality - price isnt bad at all. The reason im afraid to try Aquael is i heard the customer support isnt the greatest and its alot harder to find spare parts compared to Eheim, Oase, Fluval from what ive seen.

Since I have done various art forms I thought I would be able to pull off a decent aquascape. However, I am just not very good. So I can relate to your ideas on this video. The main thing is to always just be true to yourself and not try to be like others. I enjoyed the placement of your driftwood and rocks. The plants will grow in and complete the aquascape with a natural symmetry.

I just bought a biomaster 350 and now I understand what you mean by that hum. I didn't notice it until nobody was downstairs and then I heard it and it's very annoying. My Fluval 307 doesn't even have that type of deep hum.

Well done Danny, the aquarium looks great 🧡! You prove that you can create beautiful aquascapes with intuition rather than a concept. I also always try to design aquascapes that are as low-maintenance as possible. However, I try to include at least one fast-growing plant, because in my experience the system then runs a little more stably. Greetings from rainy Germany!

Very nice tank. The Rummy Nose Rasboras are my favourite fish, and yours will grow a bit bigger than they are now, they seem to be quite young still and will grow slowly but continuously, even as adults, given sufficient food. Rainbow shiners are stunning, I would like a group of them as well in the future, but only once I can provide an outdoor space for them. I know a guy who has been breeding them for years, and apparently they need single digit (Celcius) temps in order to reproduce. Hope the tank matures well for you, and that all the fish stay healthy and happy.

I look at Cannister filters like plumbing, generally very awkward to work with but necessary . I really like my Oase, not fun to clean or maintain, which is the case for any other filter unit I have used

Oh I’ve just thought of an analogy I just have to share sorry 😂 if filters are like plumbing, then the Tetra, Sera, Aquael and Eheim I used are like cleaning the shower including its floor and the Biomaster is like cleaning its unnecessarily complicated drain 😬 what in the world is with these new drains?? Mine has literally 2 plastic.. dishes?? To collect gunk which still passes through somehow and its a draaag to remove them I just dumped the Mr. Muscolo in there and said a little prayer 🙏

You are very rich. Buy toys. I don't have the money for it and I don't understand why people pay for it. Buy an Eheim classic or Fluval canister filter once and peace of mind for the rest of your life.

I have a different theory: you’re just too kind 🤭 I know my limits, I like to make it clear in my videos that I am aware because I will not hear the end of it in the comments, how I missed the golden ratio, how it’s not triangle, this that.. but I worked more on functionality and detail and for that I really am quite proud, need to practice it more, I’m usually a bit too rushed and brush over details 🤭

There aren't many people who have an eye for art, by itself, with no nurturing of that vision. Not a single artist out there will tell you that they never benefited from the patience and experience of practice. You do have vision and anyone can see that. Now you are learning how to give it life and that gets better the more and more you encourage your vision to take shape. Quit saying you don't have it! Your initial layout looks great and I am still watching but I can see it'll look wonderful

I have an Aquatop 400 I bought for $279 US dollars 5 years ago. I had a small leak problem a month ago fixed with a gasket replacement. Otherwise the filter is dead silent & powerful. I have a large prefilled sponge assembly in the tank so I have rarely opened the canister which is filled only with biomedia.

Well you might have a silent one, I have a very noisy one which remained the same amount of noisy no matter how much it operated. As I was saying in the video, I fear a quality control issue since there are many people with noisy filters and many with quiet ones :) so.. bestie you can’t disagree with me that it’s noisy, you don’t have the filter I received :)))) MINE, and I speak only for my filter, is noisy AF and that is a fact of life. I hope other buyers will comment on this video their opinions like they have so far for everyone to see, just browse the comments for more reviews 👍

I'm not a fan of Aquael (I'm Polish), but they make good filters. Your feelings are most helpful when choosing and the advice of others is ridiculous. Drilling holes, buying different sponges is like buying a Mercedes with square wheels and having to paint it yourself.😂😂 Thank you for your honesty

What a totally different experience than I have. I have to look at the outflow in my aquarium to see if the filter is running because it is so quiet. Both my Biomasters only purge some air a few minutes after maintenance. I recently replaced the prefilter tubes of my version 1 Biomasters with de prefilter tubes for the version 2 series. That improved the flow a little bit.

I agree with you, you can hear the humming on a lot of videos where aquascapers present this filters, even hang on and other filters from oase they are noisy as hell…this is one of the reason I will not go with the filter because for the price you suppose to get top product. Unfortunately a lot of aquascapers cant complain a lot because they will loose the support from oase and they will not get new products for free…etc. there are better brands for less price then oase.

You usually want to add some wood to tanks with plecos... not as necessary for some species but it's never a bad thing. Just lost my 18 year old Sailfin pleco (a 40 cm monster) and miss him terribly. I do urge anyone who can give them enough space to get a Sailfin (Gibbiceps) they are lovely fish - such characters and really beautiful. I'm considering either another Sailfin or maybe a vampire pleco next...

Oase is overpriced and overhyped. Stick to the grand daddy - Eheim(classic). My Oase been sent for servicing 2 times in the past 3 years. Eheim - I have not send for any servicing, and it has been running in my planted tank for 5 years and previously runs a flowerhorn tank for 6 years.
