You can check "Safecracking for everyone" on KZbin. Just don't get frustrated and go slow because it's very tricky to get the feel for it.

Do the owners ever have some idea of what the code COULD be or at least remember a number in it if they don't remember the entire set? Or do you find it easier to just start from zero? I mean this one clearly was left by a dead relative or a renter or something, but I mean my question above as a generality.

I prefer to go in blind. I tell people not to give me any numbers because if they are wrong, 2 things could happen; 1) You can waste time on those numbers when they are wrong Or 2) You will see things that really aren't there at those numbers they gave.

Hi Rick, there are many ways of dialing for indications as you know, and this is just my 2 cents worth. A lock that is not talking, I dial all wheels 10 numbers left, then all wheels 10 numbers right and log all readings. I then know highs and lows of the complete wheel pack. I park wheel 1 on a found low spot and just carry wheels 2 & 3 around - left or right if necessary. As you know wheel 3 most often indicates first. When a number is found, I bump wheel 3 off, if the reading has changed, it's wheel 3, if not continue to wheel 2 and do the same. If there is a change it's wheel 2. If not, probably wheel 1 is indicating - not that common. This method can reduce the dialing to find which wheel is indicating. With four wheel locks I often do the same, park wheels 1 & 2 on a low spot, and carry wheels 3 & 4 together. This is only a suggestion, and the way I often do it, you are obviously a good manipulator, so feel free to tell me to mind my own business! Regards however, Brian.

I take all the advice I can get. In this case, I was fighting some chatter in the dial. So, I was having to approach both contact points several times to fight through the noise. I don't like to bore the people with all that stuff, so I fast forward through it. Once I found the 3rd number, it was only 23 minutes to do the rest. The funny thing that early on I had Elminated 55 - 99 as possibilities for the 3rd wheel because those were measuring waay high.. but later on, 62 became obvious for wheel 3. It's all in the full unedited video, but it's boring for non safe crackers, so I don't usually post the full thing. Usually, these take me 30 minutes, so I don't mind if one gives me trouble once in a while.

I am a bit of a raw recruit to this scene, but I agree. For me, map AWL in steps of 10, then park wheel 1&2 on the low point, and do wheel 3 only, etc. It is very possible to have a code where AWL or AWR show nothing. Or do wheel isolation and park 1&2 randomly on a high part, and it also shows nothing. I have put in dozens of codes (literally) trying to replicate this into a S&G 6730 on the bench. Generally, I found that when the codes were close together - say, five apart - was when AWL or AWR showed nothing. Parking wheels 1&2 on the low part always worked on this lock. So far I haven't hit a lock where wheel 1 shows first, but the process would be much the same.

If it was a 4 wheel would it make it harder?
@MBSAFCRKR
@MBSAFCRKR 19 күн бұрын
4 wheels is slightly harder in direct entry lock but nothing to even worry about. Now, the difference between a 3 and 4 wheel group 2 lock is much greater.

four minutes for blind picking a dimple lock is not that bad. For me it takes much more for those modern Abloy disc detainer locks for blind picking them

Yeah but how long did it take? No burglar is going to get into it before the police arrive after the alarm goes off. No safe is impenetrable.

Its a "Magic module" lock so its easy to replace the lock for a better one, for example a electronic lock. Best ones are the generator ones, they will never run out of battery. Best would be a fingerprint one so theres no codes to forget. Looks like a commercial location, so I would store master keys, codes, recovery, USBs and/or paper with encryption keys, etc in it. Like a "disaster recovery plan" openable with fingerprint. Looks like the bolt have been modified however, but should be easy to re-modify a newer bolt by grinding down the bolt so it fits into the hole. Or even, drilling the hole in the collar bigger so it fits a normal safe bolt. Note however that the safe is not "insurance approved" for storing valuables however, this because a requirement (atleast in EU) is that the bolt of the lock device should not be affected by force, if someone were to force the handle in the opening direction. The requirement is called "relieved bolt" and that basically means that the safe lock must have a support on the bolt that soaks up the forces if anyone would try to force the safe open using a crowbar in the "opening direction" (think if someone were to weld a crowbar to the "turning ring" and then put all their weight on it in the clockwise direction).

@sebastiannielsen we don't like electronic locks. They WiLL fail at some point. Mechanical locks can run forever .
@sebastiannielsen
@sebastiannielsen 8 күн бұрын
@@MBSAFCRKR Thats why I suggested the generator ones. They don't fail what I have heard. (unless the generator mechanism itself fails but that should be rare). One of my favorites are Kaba X10, they will NEVER fail. There propably exist fingerprint locks with the same style and reliability.

That one that looks like a snowman is called a snowman, there's a also half-snowman and ball and half ball. Good for wafer locks, and other usually cheap locks. good luck, try faster on the rake, have a great day, dimple's are a pain.

Nice job on that open! By the way, what brand are those lock picks? They seem to have quite a bit of flex, so they might be made of a softer or cheaper steel. For using the dimple rake, try holding the nubby side up. Insert the rake, then zip it in and out quickly while wiggling it left and right. You could add a slight up-and-down motion, but focus mainly on back-and-forth and side-to-side movements. That two-ball pick is called a double ball or "snowman" pick. It's impressive that you managed to open the lock with it, considering that pick profile is usually designed for wafer locks, not dimple locks. For dimple locks, dedicated picks work best, and "Multipick" makes some of the top options on the market for dimple lock picks. Overall, great open!

Thanks for the information. I don't lockpick at all and the kit is just something I picked up off aliexpress. KLOM is the brand. I liked the snowman on because it allowed me to twist upwards toward the dimple instead of picking straight on. I don't have the wrist discipline to ride that rounded edge of the dimple with slipping off.
