I have a CD with all of these songs on it with the same players. I think it is called Billy Jack Wills Live in Sacramento. I found it in a used record and book shop in San Francisco.

I believe Vance Terry was around 17 years old at the time of this recording. He was an absolute master of the steel guitar even at that young age.

Amazing. Also I love the description that only gives medium, fast or slow... probably to help the DJs to decide.😊 thanks as always!

How does it compare to the 45rpm PTP 12 inch, Ortofon SPU version on KZbin? Maybe yours is more naturally dynamic(i.e. 24 bit)?

Thanks for the great posting of Sol Hoopii playing the National Hawaiian Tricone guitar !

The National Hawaiian Tricone guitars are sometimes mistaken for electric guitars , they have that slightly distorted electric sound, long sustain and incredible dynamics , from a whisper to a scream ! These Hawaiian non fretting guitars like the one Sol is shown with in the picture with the neck and body made as one piece have that sound that the Spanish style fretted instruments don't really have . That is why the National Tricone was designed, for playing with the steel bar . National Hawaiian German Silver Tricones are incredible instruments. I own a 1928 National Hawaiian German Silver Tricone #945 . National Resophonic instruments can build you a brand new one on a special order . Truly a magical instrument beyond compare .

Excellent video of a true legend. With an instrument hand built by another legend, Paul Bigsby. This instrument is shown extensively in the book "The Story of Paul Bigsby" by Andy Babiuk, (FG Publishing, 2008). This book shows practically all Bigsby's instruments, included his famous Bigsby vibrato. It's a book hard to lay down once you start reading it. Very highly recommended.

Norma Jean used Dorothy Dandrige as an inspiration when creating the blonde bombshell. You can literally see the mannerisms that inspired her Marilyn Monroe character in this clip. I wish they could have gotten a picture together, they even died around the same age in the same way.

Perhaps the greatest picker of all time; if country ain't your piece of cake, this man alone must convince it is.. As in yesteryears Jerusalem, it showes Kentucky is the center of the earth..

The song had been originally recorded by Ella Mae Morse and released earlier in 1942. I find it rather amazing that Dorothy Dandridge did a version, on film no less, that same year.

I had never heard that recording. Thank you for sharing. I love the Hammond S6! Some say mockingly the chord organ is to music what painting-by-numbers is to painting. I don’t understand why anyone should ridicule artistic hobbies of any kind. Many young kids acquired a taste for music playing on those inexpensive instruments.

This is real musicianship. I doubt that any of today's "super guitarists" could even come close to this level without electronic gimmicks.

This is only a glimpse of his musical genius as a musician and songwriter. A credit to Kentucky. His instrumentals are breathtaking. I look forward to seeing him in the Resurrection - Acts 24:15.

The recordings come across TOO clean- its sound is almost 'uncanny' in the way a reborn doll might be. It's still good music at least- though it does sound... uh, inorganic at times.
