You do realize it’s an old fire truck, so it’s been inside its whole life and been over serviced from day one.

Yes, it's in super nice shape! Just noticed today it was inspected in 2010, so likely it was still operating then! Thanks for watching 👍😁

Probably highly unlikely but.....why not cut the rear wall out and move it to the rear of the extension and make it a cew cab. That would be f@$%^ng sweet imo. But it's your truck your money and I'm not going to tell you how to live your life.

I like the idea, a crew cab cabover! Yes, it is unlikely for this old girl. If a fella had loads of time / money he could take two cabs and stitch them together. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Thanks for sharing! I had an 85 C8000 single axle tractor with a CAT 3208T mated to a ten speed transmission. On my truck that air tank you're messing with was the one for the maxi brakes. If you open the doors and tip seats forward makes it easier to tip but yeah... you got that back wing. Maybe a couple of guys could help lift it. Make sure you check the PH on that antifreeze if it's been sitting in there awhile. You don't want to rot out your big radiator. And don't forget all the grease nipples to go over just in the shifter linkage alone. Nice truck though, I'm a little envious!

@@FlatThunder Hey, one other thing I thought I should mention just in case you didn't know. That engine was made back when there was more sulfur in the fuel. Everything now is ultra low sulfur to keep the environmental dogs happy. I used to put Howes Diesel Treatment in my fuel every time because it made up for the missing sulfur that is supposed to lubricate the old school fuel injection pump. New motors with new pumps don't use the fuel to lubricate but the old ones did. It'll save you wearing it out prematurely running it on today's fuel. Cheers!
@FlatThunder

@just-incase good idea! I use power service in my other diesel equipment in the winter months to prevent gelling and help with cold starts. Never tried Howe's, but I will look into it as an adder! Cheers 👍😁

-- There's no substitute for working indoors when it's winter outside... but you do what you have to do to get the job done. An old trick that I was taught that works fairly well if you have the time for it is to clean up your bolts, nuts, washers and screws and then put them in the oven at 200-250° F for 30-60 minutes. They'll stay toasty warm even below freezing outside for quite a while when you go to use them. It's also good to heat them up in a thick walled steel box to help retain the heat because once you take him outside, they'll cool off fast. The one downside is that they'll be hot to the touch but if you're wearing gloves anyway then it shouldn't matter. Some guys will just hit them with the torch but you have to be careful with that. Get them too hot and you can screw up the temper of your hardware. You can also seriously roast your fingers! That's why the lower oven temp works, not too hot or too cold. Anyway, congrats on getting your rig back up and running in the frigid weather. Best wishes! - Max Giganteum
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 10 күн бұрын
Good idea! I might have to give that a shot the next time I am working in the super cold. The bolts started at 60°F, but fumbling around with them sucked the heat out fast! Thanks for watching and sharing 👍😁

I know this video was made a while ago but hoping you’ll answer. I recently bought a 1994 kawasaki bayuo 220. All it needed was a spark plug and brakes adjusted. I got it running and have been riding it around for a day or two. Out of nowhere it just cut out and I can’t seem to get it started anymore. Has gas, Spark and all the wires seem to be connected, as good as possible at least. The wires are a mess from the people I bought it from that rigged up rock lights and had random wires going everywhere. You have any suggestions on what the issue could be? Thanks man
@JordanRice-q5p
@JordanRice-q5p 13 күн бұрын
Also electric start doesn’t work. Have to pull start every time. And the headlights or taillights aren’t hooked up right. but everything else is hooked up good to the battery.
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 13 күн бұрын
Possibly just a bad or corroded connection if the issue is intermittent. Check all the plugged connections to ensure they are making good contact; clean, use contact cleaner and apply some dielectric grease. If the connection is in question just eliminate the plug and direct wire it. Also check the pet cock in the fuel tank. It could be plugging up with junk in the tank. Thanks for watching and good luck on the repair 👍😁
@JordanRice-q5p
@JordanRice-q5p 11 күн бұрын
@ update. wires look good and connected for the most part. Besides the push start because it isn’t hooked up correctly. So I have just been pull starting every time. I double checked spark and it was good. I took the carb out and cleaned it and sprayed carb cleaner and air through the jets. Then i realized the pull start kind of started locking up it felt like. so i pulled that out and the recoil spring came out so now i’m in the process of getting that stubborn thing rolled back up and in there(if you have a easy way to do that please let me know i’ve been struggling). If this doesn’t fix the issue and get it started then i plan on checking the timing chain and making sure it’s in line correctly. Do you have any other thoughts or suggestions on what it could be? Thank you again.
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 10 күн бұрын
@ unfortunately, I do not. If it is intermittent those are the hardest to pin point. 'I think' the gremlins will be hiding in the electrical wiring or possibly a fuel delivery issue (maybe sticky float).
