Concrete Heat Finally!!! - Hydronic Floor Heat

In this video I install the final pieces of the puzzle for my radiant hydronic concrete floor heating system. Finally this has been in waiting since the tubing and concrete floor pour of 2015!

I put heat tubing in my pole barn when we poured the floor back in 2016. In 2020 I finally installed a boiler. I live in central Minnesota and can tell you it is the single best feature of my shop. The heat is consistent and super comfortable all winter. One of the benefits of in-floor heat over forced air comes when you have to open the overhead door to move things in or out. Since the floor heats the space, I don't loose all my heat instantly when I open the large door. You're gonna love this setup!

I have my boiler set to 114F. Mine is electric and on load management thru my electric COOP so I get my power at half price. I heat my 300 sq ft wood shop to 60F and my 1200 sq ft auto shop to 45F.@@FlatThunder

@@TheToolmanTim my unit is currently set to 120 °F and I have the floor probed. Currently shooting for 72°F concrete temperature. I hope I can afford the utility bill! This is a new kind of heating process for me and I have no gage on its energy consumption.

Thanks Patrick! I am still dialing it in after removing the fine mesh strainer directly on the boiler. Flows are looking good and the floor is starting to warm up! Thanks for watching my Friend! 👍😁

Great job for thinking ahead Andy!! 😃 That radiant heat is gunna be lovely during the winter months. We have that in our shop at work and it makes it soooo much better to work on snow covered trucks. lol. You think that's bad for weather in your area, yesterday it was 84 at noon and it snow flurried at 10pm! 🥶

Crazy weather all over! It was pert near 70°F yesterday. Today was 25°F gusting winds with random sleet. 🥶 I have dreamed about having floor heat since before my shop was even built. It's finally in! Okay that's enough testing, bring on summer weather..... Thanks for watching my Friend! 👍😁

I DIY'ed this for snowmelt for my driveway. Built my own integrator panel and used a simple electric water heater. Not nearly as fancy as that preassembled one, and there are lots of kinks to work out, but it's functional!

I originally planned to build my own unit, but didn't want to solve all the potential issues. This unit looks nice, has a proven design, it's easy maintenance and has a pretty awesome technical support team! My only complaint is I waited too long to install it. My multi year delay made all the components substantially more expensive! 🙄I like your idea of using it as an ice melter. It's an awesome concept and requires zero shoveling! Thanks for watching! 👍😁

@@FlatThunder yeah, it was hell trying to figure out where leaks were and how to fix them lol. Thankfully there were none in the tubing under the slab
