Hear hear. I live here and have done this a lot. And I get the same from it that you do. But it’s impossible to put into words in a way that people can feel it too (although you’ve done a great job). When a person goes, they will understand. And only then.

I found myself wondering how they got some of those structure’s materials up there. Some of those logs could only have been airlifted. I don’t even think Hannibal’s elephants could have pulled that off.

Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video! We stayed in Mastsumoto before heading into the mountains which has many outdoor gear stores. Kamoshika Sports Yamanomise Matsumoto has fuel as well as any other stores there. I really loved a store called Clamp which had amazing Light weight gear and apparel. As for the mountain huts, they all offer delicious food. We chose to bring some of our own food to make the trip cost a little less.

Great video guys! I would love to do a similar trip on bike in Japan. My partner and I just spent 2 weeks (Summertime, July) in the northern alps of Japan and I was blown away by the beauty of it all. I will for sure be back someday soon to explore further.

Thanks! We did start in Kamikochi, but to be honest I forget where we slept each night. We didn’t really follow a strict itinerary, but thankfully there are huts at regular intervals along the way that offer food and camping. Sorry I can’t be of more help, it feels like ages ago that we were there!

Sorry for such a late reply! We stayed in Matsumoto before training/busing out to the starting point of this hike which worked out great. We also thought Matsumoto was one of the coolest city’s we visited in Japan. The itinerary we followed was similar to the one layer out on this site but we just pitched a tent rather than making any mountain hut reservations. www.hikemasterjapan.com/panoramaginza

Does anybody know what are the best seasons for this hike? Is it safe a November ?
@EarthRunner
@EarthRunner 5 ай бұрын
Fall, around late September into October, I think is really popular time to hike due to the colours and the fact that there usually isn’t snow yet. November would could be quite cold up there and probably less predictable conditions, but I am sure it could be lovely as long as you’re prepared and know the forecast!

Good video. An interesting coincidence that you met your friend Marina at Midtown, which is where I am fortunate enough to live. BTW, Tokyo has 14 million people, the greater metro area (within commuting distance of the city center) has more than 30 million. But 90-something percent of Japan is quiet countryside.

@@EarthRunner I probably will have some :) mainly when it comes to cycling in Japan, otherwise I’ve been there couple of times so worked out a lot of things, but cycling there is yet to come. How easy it is to get by among the cars? I see sometimes it’s not much room. Is it a lot of elevation?
@EarthRunner
@EarthRunner 11 ай бұрын
@VagabondTurtle the cars are generally respectful and traffic never seemed to get too bad. The only part of our riding that sometimes felt dangerous were the tunnels, of which there are many. Sometimes there are sidewalks but other times we just had to ride in the middle of the road with our lights on and hold up traffic for a few minutes. And there is indeed a lot of elevation in Japan - we did over 30,000 meters of it during our trip!

You two have made some of the most beautiful videos currently on KZbin. I can’t believe you only have a handful of people following you. This is absolutely top-notch content. Your scenes, transitions and narration are perfect. Add to that the genuine bond two have…There’s really nothing better in this genre out there right now. Lots of people make pretty and interesting bike adventure videos, but most of it feels forced. These videos are not forced. They’re an invitation you’ve granted to experience the joy of riding a bike through Japan and do it through your lenses. This is truly something special and I feel very lucky that I was able to find it and experience your journey. Thank you very much for that.
