My first car was a 1985 Ford tempo and I was so grateful to learn how to drive stick on that car. First winter taking it to school and I had a daily issue with the front windshield fogging up so bad that I had to stick my head out the window so I could see where I was going And eventually the heater core failed and hot coolant went all over my feet. I’ll never forget the scent of that car, all my friends would ask what the hell is that smell but it was a cool first car and did me good until I hit a curb and ended up in a junk yard.

4K transmissions were available in Mk1 North American 1983-84 GTI’s! I do not know for sure if they were available in the MK1 GLI, or other model years and Europe. It is a close ratio transmission. It uses the same ring and pinion ratio as a diesel trans. It is indeed an uncommon trans, makes for a fun to drive car, but it screams at highway speeds. An almost identical trans is the AWY that came on late N/A diesel mk2s, only difference is 2nd gear is a little taller

Nice Short! I have a 2017 Model S and a unique problem. If I increase the height manually and hold the button nothing happens (no single beep). When I release the button it beeps 3 times nothing else happens. At this point if I try to hit the button to close it, it will just keep beeping three times and so then I have to manually close it. Then it goes back to opening normally at the same old height. Scratching my head on this one!

That sounds like the car doesn't know where the door is in the travel. Could be that actuature/latch.
