I wish there was more focus on the less common - epoxy as a guitar grain filler, VS the multiple B-rolls of the sanding processes. Still, beautiful results and nice work!

Here's a great idea to capture the dust from the front of the blade. I used this on an old Porter-Cable (352SV circular saw and it works very well. The PC saw I have has a dust port above the A good source of durable plastic is a small Dawn dish soap bottle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3W3dGuqh6asns0

I find it very hard to believe that one coat of Walrus oil will sufficiently protect the guitar from scratches, oil, and hand crud for the long term. It's easy to achieve a good finish on a guitar, but what will it look like in 3-10 years? So, do you plan to re-oil it every year or 2? That's why people spray lacquer right?

A question on the T track. On the miter saw surface, you doubled up with plywood bc you were installing T Track. But on the Wings/Drawers, it looks like it's just the 3/4 melamine even though those pieces also have T Track. So do we have to double up for the T Track or is it ok to just have 1 sheet of melamine? The melamine available locally is .74" actual thickness

Hey there, because I needed to skin over the existing treads with new risers and treads. The previous owner of the home did not have the rise/run set properly and we added 3/4" hardwood to the second floor so I needed to raise all of the stairs up.

@ Excellent! That’s why I commented - most people do not understand the importance, or time invested in making things like sleds and jigs. Or when to invest the time to do it. There will always be talented people out there, like yourself, but they are getting fewer and fewer by the day. I’ve been hiring and around carpenters & tradesmen for the last twenty years and I’ve run into a handful in that time. The rest I group into a category I call the “Claw Hammer/Pickup Truck” crowd. Not necessarily professionals, yet they do manage to eke out a living in our industry. And man, if you’re paying attention, they do some funny shit if you’re watching. 😂😂😂😂👍

I do that daily without a sled. You can also do it with a router table or handheld router or a skill saw. Choose your blade or bit wisely. I would use this for more complicated or small tasks where holding the work piece becomes difficult or unsafe.
@CReevesMakes
@CReevesMakes Ай бұрын
Yes, you absolutely can. I used to until I made this sled. On larger boards, they would get a little unwieldly as I tried to get consistent cuts on the bevels so that's part of the reason for this feature on the sled. And yes, the router table is nice too. Thanks!

I just cut 1/4' by 1/4" blanks on my table saw. You can also use a band saw and sand the parts after the cut.

how much ink did it take? I need to ink some table legs and all you can find locally is 2 oz which doesn't seem like much. Also did you mix it with water or just use it direct? Great build.

What angle did you use baseball bats to attach the top
@CReevesMakes
@CReevesMakes 2 ай бұрын
It wasn’t very much. Maybe 3-4 degrees. I just made the bottom shelf and splayed the legs to fit around at an angle that “looked good” if that makes sense. I used a lot of clamps to mock it up.

I just bought my miter saw and I believe it's the same one you have in this video. At first, I couldn't figure out why you built that black melamine deck on either side of your saw, then I figured it out. You took the manufacturer's deck off of the saw, but I'm curious why you did that. My theory is your design will give you full access to all 70º of miter in either direction without having to open the deck as you do with the manufacturer’s design, and in this way, you also maintain a full deck from front to back, as opening the manufacturer’s deck shortens it from front to back. Is that basically it? I'm asking because, right now I'm in the design stage of building my cart, and yours looks almost like what I'm trying to build. And my measurements with the 2 wings open for a full 70º cut means the width of the main cabinet will need to be approximately 42". I’m considering purchasing your instructions and possibly the Kreg base. Thank you.

I've done a lot of thinking about cross cut sleds. Yours is very nice, but I have a few issues: Wouldn;t it be nice to have an edge renewal provision for the left edge of kerf too? For instance, I love the Freud box cutter set, and it requires a different setting on left edge than standard blade. Isn't formica too slick as top surface? Check out textured phenolic coated ply (made in Latvia). Your sled is way too nice to not have a flip-stop. In my opinion the KM block is all marketing hype. Not a true microadjust (it's just another manual adjustment) and not flipping out of the way loses a lot of functionality.

Great video. I’m currently doing the same on my breakfast bar wall in my kitchen. A lot easier with all your tools but I’m getting there.
