Just bought one. Perfect little bass. The Chinese do make beautifull instruments like my one. Love it.

What a superb review... brilliantly researched and the pick up adjustment and flatwound string recommendations round the review off perfectly.

Parametric arch? Boosting the lows and high would be a scooped mid.

I found this review to be everything a great review should be. You hit every feature with a balanced explanation of the capabilities and limitations where notable. Will look forward to your other reviews. I play in many different situations and cover a wide range of music so bi-amping and sound shaping are key whether at the amp(s) or on the floor..

Having started out with 130W into 2×10 in the 90s, it was marginal in a rock band context - no headroom. I found 300W much more reliable. In theory, 130 to 300W (or 280W) is only about 4dB, you can look at it as 3dB plus headroom

You’re looking at the wrong model. This is a GV4. The more expensive one is the JF1.

I've got a "standard" violin bass but I have never really liked the narrow string spacing at the bridge. This Shorty with its P Bass style bridge looks to have much wider string spacing so that makes me very interested.

I bought the standard 200w Gnome as a quiet practice amp....not so quiet..lol...i'm using the Gnome with an 8ohm 12" Ashdown bass cab, 130w, a tiny bit quieter...i use a Warwick, WA300 class A solid state bass amp head with Ashdown cabs live, when i can get to use them,their really well built, fantastic sounding amps that last years & can take a pounding playing live...the little Gnome is solid built & the best of similar style 200w class D tiny amps made by other bass amp makers... the big 1 is 280w bud not 300w but sounds just as loud....fantastic for the price, good review bud...

I just bought this off Amazon for exactly $499.00 American dollars with I believe the EU price is $355Pounds. It has a few rough edges but I really enjoy it and am amazed at all the sounds I can get out of it. Nick Donvito. Camillus, New York

I love orange amps but I'm not sure who this bass is for. You can get infinitely better basses from Squier for the same money. They should have built these with better electronics and hardware and priced them accordingly. It's not like beginners are rushing out to get this anyway.
@ampthebassplayer
@ampthebassplayer 4 ай бұрын
Having reviewed one of these, I don't think the electronics and hardware were the weak point of this bass. The ergonomics were clearly not considered and that's what makes it bad. A bass that's not easy to play isn't good for anyone unless you're really sold on the looks.

There's nothing fantastic about those very low quality tuning machines, but they will fit slightly better Grover machines. The electronics are also cheap. small body pots, generic Chinese pickup. The worst part is that this bass is a serious neck-diver. I've had two of these, and there are things I like: nice fretwork with binding, not too heavy, easy to modify and it looks cool. If they had made it a short scale, it would be even better, and maybe not neck dive as readily.
