Peavey Max 300 Review

I'm finding this video a year later on the hunt for a Bass amp and it's the best video made for this series of amps, really appreciate the information and opinions on the amp, peavey are and have always been underated. I have an older peavey to play through that works great if you know how to set the eq etc. I'm wanting something more modern and I'm seeing these go for $300 US now on the used market. Watching the video I agree with everything you said about it except one thing and I don't disagree if you recorded the amp then the fan noise would be bothersome but I'd say in almost every studio situation I've been in and also how I do it in my own home studio is record bass through a DI box and use plugins for effects after the fact, I use a trusty sansamp box. I don't know anyone who really records a mic'd up bass any more unless it's a live recording and in that situation fan noise isn't really a factor I'd guess. Again very informative, I'm gonna pull the trigger on a used one thanks to your review and demo. Fantastic playing as well my friend!!liked and subbed 🤘😜🤘

I still owned a Peavey TNT115 and still like it. I rarely see artists using Peavey except one that I know is Derek Engemann. Peavey is a good brand. Maybe they need to step up more with their game with other brands

@@stevegajewski6303 it's a ferrite bead for the power cable. It's required for sale in the u.k and is apparently useless. A guy from a Facebook group contacted the guy that designed the amp. I feel better finally knowing. Lol

@@deanaf Thanks Dean, glad I know now. Do you about the passive and active inputs? Both my passive and active basses sound better on the passive input jack so I don't plug into the active one at all. What is your experience?

I'm a little late to the conversation, but does anyone know if the DI is balanced or is it controlled by the main volume like the Fender Rumble 500?

It’s balanced I thought this would’ve been a bigger problem but it only becomes a problem if you have a poor sound man

I love it when amps are marketed as “ a massive 300 watts” when in reality it’s half unless you connect s separate speaker cab.. read your specs consumers

I'm sure that PJB would dispute the claim the "game changer" use of an angled baffle. PJB have been doing this for 15 years of more Check out the Roadcase combo (BG800) The Superflightcase BG300 The big 16H cabinet (2005) or even the smaller Flightcase in 2006 had upward facing speakers I think Peavey need to check out their history of Bass Amps before making such claims #philjonesbass
