I saw him first time live in 1979 together with Dire Straits at British Rock Meeting at Westfalen Halle Dortmund. An unforgettable experience. A young band that is yet to make history.

It’s amazing how much this one song changed Knopfler’s career. It overshadows everything else he’s done. It’s just one of the best rock riffs ever, and he’s amazing at it.

We have an image, a sound, a song note by note in our memory. Then we have age and time passing, I envy so much who was there and was able to listen this song, even if not perfect, but this song is belonging to another millennium where Music was written with capital M. I wish he could play this song at any concert even with changing in riffs and solos, this song has no time and is amazing.
