I’m thinking of writing an Alice In The Wonderland retelling with trials and twist to it, I’m a teenager and though writing stories is hard for me at times, my dream is to become an author. I originally wanted to try a peter pan retelling but it’s been done a thousand times and I feel I’m unconsciously copying books I’ve read before about the retelling. Meanwhile I have never read, watched or really been invested in the wonderland story, so I think it would be cool and maybe a little easier to work with as a first book- the twist is That I’ve already done packets worth of work doing outlines for my OG ideas about an underground prison fantasy world inspired by Sarah J Maas’s throne of glass series. Overall, I’m not sure what I want to do right now but I hope that even if I don’t write these ideas now, that later I will rediscover them and pursue my dream! I am wondering if you have any advice or words of wisdom for new writers and wannabe authors/dreamers.

I just recently started planning a "solo journaling rpg" for myself, and have not only been using tarot for planning characters and figuring out where my character will start, but I'm also planning on using it as a part of the game! I am kind of a beginner, so I always forget to pay attention to the imagery, but I definitely should start paying attention to it. Thanks for the reminder!!!

Easter Eggs are actually called allusions: Allusions are generally regarded as brief but purposeful references, within a literary text, to a person, place, event, or to another work of literature.

Is it common for authors to network and split a table at some fairs to save cost and exchange resources etc.

I have a question. I wrote my manuscript in close 3rd from one POV. It is a m/m romance and I feel some chapters would be better from MC2 POV. I on me have 45k words, so plenty of room for growth. Is it okay to go MC1 for first few chapters (he does sleep with someone who is not MC2, so I know it might be taboo to introduce MC2 before this. The sex scene is important for character growth). Then after this about Chapter 6 MC2 will be introduced. This is where I will go a few chapters on MC1 to 1 chapter of MC 2. Giving about 75/25 split. MC2 will have some misconceptions and such, but we mostly focus on MC1. Is this reasonable?
@ScarlettKol Жыл бұрын
You can definitely space out your POVs if it serves the story! My only cautions would be to make sure that you have enough of the other character for the reader to be invested in their POV, and don’t just drop the other character off. There’s a risk with multiple POV to be “lazy” because it’s just easier to drop in another POV instead of figuring out how to tell it well from the original character, but if you build it right it can add so much depth and nuance to your story. There isn’t a hard and fast rule about when the second character needs to take over the story, just make it count when they do. I hope that helps!

@@ScarlettKol, thank you for the advice. A did a quick read through the manuscript for overview, and I didn't feel the connection with MC2. I need his POV to help build the relationship since it is a romance. He has his own scars to bear and I want my readers to feel it too. Once I hand it over to Beta readers, if the 2nd POV doesn't fit I can go back to my original plan of one POV. Thank you again.

Awww, you're not a lazy writer. You are a hard working mother with a lot on your plate. Yes, social media breaks really does help. I think this weekend I'll be taking time to get organized and prioritize my to do list. I haven't been tracking it very well, and I need to find a way that works for me.
@ScarlettKol Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Now if I can just get my head to accept that I’d be way better off! But sometimes just a little change can make a world of difference. Less socials has been really good for me

Oh looks lovely! And nice to get away from the cold! Off on a wheelchair walk today and on Wednesday had to do it in the snow, not fun! I write sometimes on holidays, it depends on my mood, because I'm an early riser it sometimes gives me something to do while everyone else sleeps!
@ScarlettKol Жыл бұрын
Ugh. Snow just makes everything harder. I’m always in awe of the first pretty snowfall, but then I’m basically over it. However, we don’t have earthquakes or hurricanes so 🤷🏻♀️ And yes, that’s what made this holiday writer friendly. Not that I got up early, but my in-laws did and they’d go out for a stroll before it got too hot so I had time to myself to get my computer out. Hope your weather starts improving!

Degrassi had a cinematic like universe before Marvel had an cinematic universe. Everyone and everything was connected to something and storyline. Degrassi was so real and so relatable with everything i went through in middle school and high school. I still watch reruns til this day. I want to be a screenwriter and I learned so much from them. The characters arcs where amazing for some like Holly J, Bianca, Claire Edwards, Drew and even Eli. It was amazing
