I love so much that your husband was willing to admit he felt nervous going to the recycling center for the first time. This year I went to the dump and recycling center therein for the first time in more than a decade. I'd only been with my Dad as a kid and once ages ago with a boyfriend. So many times I thought I should go but was kinda nervous because "I didn't know how it works." Thankfully I had a friend with me so that helped a lot. It's really nice to know that men experience this too!!

You are awesome!! I knew some of this already from doing a lot of research over the years in dishwasher, selection and energy usage and “Why is my dishwasher no longer cleaning very well when it’s not that old?” etc. However, from all of my research, I keep finding the same answers at every turn, but they are not solving my problem. Because you interned at “Maytag University” 😉 you might have picked up the answer to my question/problem. If so, please help me!! I have taken apart the interior of the dishwasher and cleaned out the filter in the bottom, which honestly wasn’t even bad or that gross. This is an 8-year-old Samsung dishwasher, on the cheaper side, Energy Star rated, no heated drying due to its Energy Star “efficiency,” no garbage disposal inside the unit, and I am on city water and waste, but this is a mobile home in a privately owned park that’s about 45 years old, I believe the underground pipework is not well maintained because we are not on publicly owned (taxpayer funded) land. This is evidenced by the issues I have with mold/mildew (and the strong mildewy odors) in my pipes and faucets-seemingly anywhere that the city water plays a big part. (Not the toxic kind, which would cause me to be sick as an allergic asthmatic) but it does seem to be wreaking havoc on my appliances. Also, despite attempting to pre-rinse the excessively gross dishes, there were some that had either old sour cream or old milk, which has never exited my dishwasher. Every time I run it the dishes, smell awful and they have dirty rings inside them. Whether they are glass, plastic, stainless steel or otherwise. Doesn’t matter. I have used dishwasher decal with citric acid, I used jet dry along with the cascade platinum pods,, I’ve taken a heart, the whole interior and clean them out, including using a toothpick to poke holes in the spinning “doo-wally” or whatever you called it LOL. I am so frustrated that I am ready to. I got a call the Maytag (Samsung) man myself or buy a new dishwasher. I hope there is something you can tell me because nothing else has worked. I’m about to pour a half-cup of CLR and run it on empty as a last-ditch effort. Please help me, graduate of Maytag University! Lol

My husband has a name for my frenzied/self-loathing/Where is it??? state you describe; he calls it "Search Mode". You're right, you can rarely find anything when in Search Mode! I try to calm down and think back to when I last had or saw the item and take it from there, but that's not enough. I love your steps for taking away the "let me check this place AGAIN" waste of energy and time. Thanks yet again, Dana; you've been such a blessing in my life for a couple of years now, and somehow you keep finding new ways to help me. 🤩

When it comes to ID containing items like a passport, I would have high anxiety. Dana, did you check any bags or purses you might have used on your last trip to carry your passport? Sometimes it can be forgotten in an inner zippered pocket. Also, just a friendly unsolicited piece of advice, but keep an eye on your credit rating in case someone took it. Look for new activity you don't recognize. Identity theft is much easier with your passport. Of course, I am really hoping that is not happening, but I would have felt bad not mentioning it. Thank you for all you do.

That is a beautiful "chest of drawers" and yes it is a "chest of drawers " because it is "chest height ". At least that is how I learned to remember it when selling bedroom sets as a merchandise manager at a furniture store.

I have about 45 Nativities, which I love. They live happily all year in two tubs in my shed. Come December, they are in my living room and as Dana suggested, the family photos and other items are temporarily stored in the tubs that the Nativities live in.

Restricting the number of dirty dishes is so helpful! I live alone and don't have a dishwasher, so I decided to restrict them by making sure they were done before the next meal. I try to do them after every meal but that's not always possible. On those days, I do them before I start preparing the next meal. That way I never have overwhelming piles of dishes to do.

I am at the point in my “take it there now” is putting it in the room I want to make a home for if it’s something I absolutely need/want. Because I am still working on a home for everything. The container concept has changed my life. I’m working on it. Thank you. I tell my friend to watch you all the time.

Ill have to see if you mention this in another video but my main question is how to determine what size container any given thing should be limited to. When you do need more storage v less stuff.

This is fantastic! I definitely struggle with the middle layer : things that don’t have a home. Four adults in my family, so the questions/decisions about clutter need to be asked four times. Every once in a while, will choose a particular shelf - put everything in a box and ask each person to take out what they actually use. Anything left gets donated or recycled.

I live in Canada and we grew up with the changeover -- About 7 years ago I got tired of the transition (sometimes 4-6 weeks or longer) because the weather is really uncertain -- sometimes we need a flannel shirt in early June, other years, shorts in early May. Out came the bins and there they sat on the bedroom floor where we could dig through them until the change of weather decided to stick and we could finally put everything away. Meanwhile, the laundry was full of both seasons -- chaos! I pared down to my dresser (6 drawers) and closet (1/2 of a regular, not walk-in) that I share with hubby. It took a while, but after being down to 1 bin - just for the heavy sweaters for a few years, I was able to make room for ALL my clothes and the one in one out rule is easy because I KNOW what fits in the space. Dana, your voice is always in my ear when I'm considering something new.... 'does this deserve space in my closet'? and I have a donatable declutter bag for clothing on the floor of my closet for things that get cycled out when they don't fit or don't serve me any more. THANK YOU!

Slowcooker / crockpot!!!! I have a 6 month old baby and just recently started using a slow cooker. It amazing how I can through on dinner in the morning when the baby is more chill and lets me do stuff. It slowly cooks all day and be kept warm for dinner. Save the hectic later cooking when the baby is cranky, sleepy, hungry and everything else. I can also clean the kitchen after prepping the food in the morning which than keeps my kitchen clean all day. If I make a sauce or curry its easy to make some fresh pasta or rice later. It's just amazing.

Oh my gosh. I think we are the same people. I have saved all my kids teeth ONLY because when my oldest was born someone gave me a cute little container for them. Now I have 4 kids worth of baby teeth in my sock drawer like a complete PSYCHO. Also snippets of baby hair. Because I thought that was what moms are supposed to do. One of my kids stumbled upon my stash once and they were completely grossed out. 😂
