You mentioned that you are right handed and therefore purchased Bergeon Burnisher 2933G. However when I shop for that item, I see it listed as Left Handed burnisher and the 2933D is Right Hand. I don't know if that was a mistake or if I am not following the logic of how these tools were designed. I am left handed and would have expected 2933G to be for me.
@VWatchie

For Jacot Tool work you will need the 2933G (listed as for left handed) if you are RIGHT handed. So, it was not a mistake and the reason I pointed it out.

Great video! I just bought my first automatic, a Seiko with the 4r36 bidirectional movement. I noticed that the rotor makes a sublte bearing/zippery sound when it spins, like very fast clicks. Is it normal?

It sounds like you already had the screw on dies before getting this tool. Does the AliX tool come with the dies or do you recommend others?
@VWatchie
@VWatchie 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question and sorry for my late reply! Yes, I had the screw-on dies before getting the tool so they did not come with the AliX tool. The AliX tool comes with a few aluminium dies not shown in the video but I'm not sure how useful they are. My set of dies, which I'm very happy with, was bought at CousinsUK.com. Please use the following link for more info about the dies I'm using in the video: www.watchrepairtalk.com/topic/28825-robur-watch-crystal-press-alternative/#comment-244027

I think youre supposed to place some kind of cloth between the glass and press die to avoid breaking the crystal--???
@VWatchie
@VWatchie 7 ай бұрын
Good point @yambo59. What you can do is place a piece of plastic between the crystal and the die. It will prevent the crystal from getting scratched. However, there’s no risk you’ll break the crystal if you don’t.

Hey i could be wrong but i think you're also on the watch repair talk forum, if so i'm birbdad on there. I'm trying to use this thing fo rthe first time and i can't seem to get a uniform bubble with it, it's always lopsided with one part of it touching the edge of the cap jewel, i cannot get htat nice round uniform bubble like you're supposed to. I'm making sure it's clean every time i fail but wondering if you have any advice?
@sirbc

It looks like your technique differs slightly from the instructions included with the oiler. I see that you first push up on the button before inserting the tip into the jewel hole while the instructions say, "Introduce point of needle into jewel hole as far as allowed by steel tube. Needle thereby retracts slightly. Push up button to touch eccentric screw, then release". Did you try doing it that way?

I arrive late, where do you find a crystal replacement for a Vostok 32 case (like the one of this Amphibia)? I have two 32 Soviet Amphibia (snipers) in need of a new crystal (one has a Kommandirskie one, which has a totally different curve and results lower, the other one has a deformed crystal) Are the ones for modern Amphibia cases the same? The diameter seems to coincide.

Thank You! Worthwhile investment if oil can be kept long term in the pen. Also, inside of pen, dust particles from the air cannot contaminate the oils. Less oil wasted on dumping out of wells every few watches because of inevitable contamination. Perfect oiling of stubborn jewel that has been ultrasonically cleaned and clear, but refuses to be removed from watch even with a hand presser. Less worry about breaking a jewel from pressing out on rare watches that such a broken jewel cannot be easily found, save buying another watch!
