So... many... scripted attacks... The Mecha Knights are surely interesting interesting interpretations of Knight bosses, treating them more like standard Kirby bosses, emphasizing flashy scripted attacks over the usual agile, unscripted fighting style of the Knights. It works to show how the HWC has corrupted even Meta Knight to become just another slow, clunky invader operated by the wicked company. The combination of DMK's giant attack pool and the new scripted attacks granted by the mech suit results in the Mecha Knights having perhaps some of the most possible attacks of any Kirby boss, only rivaled by the likes of Dark Mind and The Three Mage-Generals. It's just a shame that you won't see most of them, since they are left so vulnerable with their slow scripted attacks... Regarding Galacta Knight, on the surface he appears to just be the same fight as in KRtDL, but there are very slight, minute tweaks made in KPR (though most players likely won't notice). Not all are necessarily improvements, though that demonic faster Drill Stab is definitely one... how do you even react to that? I like the various cheeky ways you use to avoid damage. It's entertaining to watch. (Also I see those ending gags. You can't hide them from us.) Next is Star Allies' MetaMorpho Knight fights. The Knight formula has been semi-revamped here, but a new weakness emerges - their inability with most attacks to hit the ceiling (Knight Spin was given to Parallel Meta Knight and Morpho Knight EX to solve this exact issue). The block has also been changed to only be able to be used reactively when they are doing their "fencing" pose, which is surprisingly not that often as they like to glide towards Kirby to do a quick swipe (a dash attack of sorts), where they are totally unprotected. There are a lot less scripted attacks with these Knight bosses, though Morpho still has quite a few. The Sword Clash is also neat - I like that basically all the bosses in KSA have some unique quirks to them, whether it be a special interaction or an elemental weakeness.

oh goodie... three mecha knights in a row and then galacta knight... I really wish Mecha Knight and all the variations relied more on a knight's unpredictability. When they use those giant, flashy attacks, they deal heavy damage, sure, but they're still SO SLOW and so very very vulnerable...

This song feels less like a cooperation between MK & D3 and feels more like they're both fighting against eachother to be the center of attention. All I can imagine is a tense back-and-forth battle between the two of them. Orchestrated Tridimensional Cannon can't hurt you it isn't real! Orchestrated Tridimensional Cannon:

This is definitely my favorite Knight fight in the whole series. Not only was it such an unexpected and amazing come back, but one of the largest glow ups in the whole series with a plethora of new mirror based attacks while still retaining iconic moves from his original fight. He is so aggressive and pins me down in corners so effectively while having low enough hp so that the constant blocking doesn’t mean the fight drags on too long. overall this still is the best Knight fight in the whole series. This is Dark Matter Clone are how you bring back a boss right.

Dark Meta Knight is such a big threat in Dededetour! Probably only because the King has a PHAT hitbox. He’s also just really cool, especially with his myriad of flashy attacks. Also lmfao at 1:38 “Spawns a drop star on the third swing. d”

I've been looking forward to this video. Dark Meta Knight's Revenge is one of my favorite modern Kirby bosses ever, due to its difficulty but also being fair and learnable. His aggression and refinement of the nature of Knight bosses makes his fight an exciting, fast-paced boss where you have to watch out for clever manoveuring and be good at reacting to his rather large moveset. The mostly non-scripted and unpredictable nature of his attacks also mean that one can never truly trivialize the fight by memorizing attack patterns, making for a more engaging battle. Even in a game with such phenomenal bosses such as Triple Deluxe, DMK still stands out and shines brilliantly as a fun fight I consistently look forward to refighting. It's just a shame that the even-cooler Phase 2 can be easily skipped due to the scripted first attack having that ridiculous 2x attack multiplier... Regardless, DMK has had a such a glow-up from one of my least favorite bosses in Amazing Mirror to one of my absolute favorite, to even the level of some final bosses or even Soul bosses. Now THIS is how you bring back and remake a boss. Next is the Mecha Knights and Galacta Knight Returns - the former will probably be separated from the latter. GK Returns is just KRtDL's GK fight with some minor alterations, but Mecha Knight... well, he is one of the bosses of all time. He has one of the highest number of attack he can use of any Kirby boss, yet you will rarely see most of them due to him preferring to use his scripted attacks, which leave him very vulnerable. It's... an interesting fight which doesn't feel like a Knight boss, but has its own merits.

imo dmk is the peak of the modern knight bosses. galacta knight returns and morpho knight in SA feel way too defensive, constantly stepping back and shielding without nearly as many combos. the mecha knight revamps are cool but have way too many scripted attacks that are easy to punish. whereas dmk is way more aggressive, with leaving the sword pillars out while attacking. i really hope in the next 2d entry we get a knight boss on this level.

One may be wondering, "Why is GK grounded? Why are his wings so tiny?" It's likely because KRtDL's GK heavily uses animations from Meta Knight. (This explains the seemingly random inclusion of Energy Swords - it comes from MK's Sword Beam) As lazy as KPR's recycled GK may be, at least they added the float. Another thing to note is that he will always guard once after using the tornado wall attack. KRtDL's GK is a fun fight, testing good positioning and countering ceiling-camping very well (don't ask what happened with Morpho). HAL must have struck gold, since this fight will serve as the template for future Knight fights. GK starts the fight by breaking his crystal prison, and flees the fight after being defeated here, which is notable as his later reappearance in KPR's Meta Knightmare Returns shows him being summoned without the crystal and ends with him being re-sealed, and the True Arena changes this to him starting the fight by breaking out of his crystal prison and ending the fight after staggering around like what he did in KSSU's Meta Knightmare Ultra after being defeated, before flying away, his fate unknown. This raises some implications that frankly I don't want to look too deep into, considering this is a character who can time-travel at will. This is skipping ahead, but KRtDL DX only changes GK in a few ways: higher-quality visuals (and the updated design with magenta eyes), a follow-up after the Revolution Sword like the one in SKC, and MORE ENERGY SWORDS in the Energy Sword Shower (seems to be a recurring thing where each of his reappearances gain more Energy Swords in that specific attack). It doesn't take anything from KPR's GK, surprisingly. KPR's GK barely changes anything, but there are still a few small differences between KRtDL GK and KPR GK: the run is changed to him floating, some attacks were made guardable, there are some minor Drop Star placement changes, the Tornado wall goes to the background and tracks the player instead of covering the whole screen during Phase 2, more Energy Swords in the Shower, two extra variations to Rising Spine, slight change in camera angle during Revolution Sword, the second Shuttle Loop being replaced by two extra swoops from the background towards the player, and a scary-looking rift attack (that does chip damage lol). Next is Dark Meta Knight's Revenge from KTDX, one of my personal favorite fights in modern Kirby. He's a mix between KatAM's DMK and KRtDL's GK, being able to reactively guard, having a much better backhop, having the charged singular Crescent Shot and having a double jump like KatAM DMK, but also carrying a lot of attacks from KRtDL GK such as the Drill Stab, Hyper Rush, and Spin Slash, though there are quite some improvements: Triple Slash can be combo-ed into Hyper Rush (Mecha Knight and his variants can also do this) in Phase 2, Knight Spin is typically used after a double jump, Spin Slash can be changed to be aerial like Twister Slash (though it still can't reach the ceiling), Triple Crescent Shot can be performed twice in Phase 2, and the giant sword walls being a much more deadly replacement for Rising Spine (DMK can also use two lingering ones to protect himself when he performs Triple Crescent Slash, the second sword can be delayed during Phase 2). He also incorporated the background into many attacks, such as using Tornado Attack from there. However, his biggest weakness is his first special attack in Phase 2, where his defense is massively reduced during that attack, and can be easily finished off due to this (which is a shame, since Phase 2 adds tons of cool new attacks and variations).

Nice to see another Kirby Boss enthusiast :), though I'd like to also provide my own nerdy input, more specifically about Dark Mera Knight. The Bat Flap-to-Knight Spin transition, derived from the original two battles in Amazing Mirror (obviously), can actually be used in Phase 1 (though this is kind of insignificant in retrospect), but neat yet rare thing he can do is perform Triple Crescent Shot on a whim in Phase 2 without needing to position to the opposite side- even after initially using it twice (this is also shared with Mecha Knight). Was surprised myself when I first saw it and made the battle feel a bit more complex and demanding in comparison to its predecessor.

@@BrightBuld IIRC, KSA's Meta Knight can also do Triple Crescent whenever he feels like it, but Morpho Knight is forced to teleport a few times before performing the attack on the far left/right

In response to the description: yeah, I've noticed just how many games after RTDL use this EXACT battle as a base for their own knight fights, even going as far as just reusing Galacta Knight himself (I swear Robobot straight up rips his RTDL model and doesn't even modify it based on Meta Knight's new appearance). Still a really cool fight.

I was actually kind of surprised to see both these knights in one cause I always read their fights as having different vibes, but you break down really clearly how they aren't lol. I think a lot of it is up the the music and introduction of each, which is interesting to see. Much like how KA Meta is kind of a mess but understanding the vibe of fighting a certain type of character does a lot to fill in the blanks.

So Galacta Knight was bundled with Meta Knight into one video - I suppose I can see why, he is basically the EX version of Meta Knight in this game. KSSU makes the fight much more simplified and predictable than KSS, but despite that the Knight bosses are still some of the most difficult bosses in the game. The one silver lining here is Galacta's weakness of the Crouch(TM). Next would be KRTDL's "secret" Galacta Knight fight in The True Arena (Metal General does not count as a Knight boss). It's a pretty interesting boss since it cleverly reuses Meta Knight's player animations to recreate a Knight fight, and serves as the basis for all future Knight bosses. He/It is also the first Knight boss to not reactively block, but instead occasionally does it (usually before an attack, but is guaranteed to do so after a Tornado attack).

I am always so thankful for KSSU adding Drop Stars to more of Meta Knight's attacks - clearing The Arena without a copy ability in the original KSS (barring the Heart of Nova fight) is damn near impossible because of this fucking masked blueberry. Also, I find it funny how when Galacta Knight jumps up to reach the ceiling, he makes an impact noise when he lands, despite never touching the floor.

Hoo boy, this fight is a hot mess, what was Flagship cooking with this... I'm not even sure what this is supposed to be. It's vastly different from any Kirby boss before or ever since in its sheer... what-ness. There are so many weird quirks about this fight that I only learned after watchin this video, yet I already knew he was going to be one of the weirder Knight fights. Pretty sure he's the last Knight boss to be able to guard mid-air? ...honestly, I don't even know what to say for SqSq MK, it's a thing that exists and does a thing. Next is KSSU's Meta Knight (presumably Galacta Knight will be in a separate video, though they might be in the same video due to some similarities in behavior). Much less brutal than KSS's Meta Knight, but still a nasty piece of work (in terms of difficulty). Since NiDL made Drop Star no longer damage the player, KSSU adds quite some amount of them to its boss roster, and that includes Meta Knight. I think he's also more reasonable to react to than KSS's rendition, but that might just be his telegraphs looking a lot lore distinct from each other (especially the Meta Knight-patended screen-wide Tornado, which has a new wind-up pose as opposed to just using the charge-up pose from the Shuttle Loop). Looking forward to learn about the rest of the differences.
