Why WM put a scale on the machined graduated in tenths of an inch is a bit odd. Suggestion on the knob to handle interference, maybe a wing screw, a flatter knob, or dimple the handle.

When i started kiln drying my lumber I check with a lumber mill that kiln there lumber. We have a solar kiln that will hold 500 BF and they said to put a lot of weight on it. We use two concrete stop bumper on top of the stack. We haven't had any trouble with our White Oak or Walnut. We use 1" by 2" sticker on our lumber. When use banders do you retighten it as the lumber dry's it will shrink the band will be come lose. that will let the lumber move out of shape.

@BeardedLumber3 күн бұрын
@johngalt5504 on Oak, I recommend 5/4 to be sure to get two-sided clear at 3/4"
@zacharycullen36773 күн бұрын
Oak can be tricky, young trees with alot of sapwood will move alot, may need 5 or 6 quarter. Old growth can be pretty stable, I do alot of woodworking and any decent oak logs I've cut I can easily get 3/4 finished by cutting it 1 1/8 on the grade hardwood scale. White oak can be a little more tricky, like Eric said, 5/4, especially on your wider boards would be better.

At the end the day a man needs to make a good wage for his hard work so that is major factor in the price. I think it's great you break it down in terms of time effort and to factor in cost of things like if your suppling the wood . The how to figure and what to factor in is way more important than telling someone an amount to charge. It helps someone to figure what they need to get not what the guy next store charges or the next town over gets or even the guy half way round world. Another great video!

Having said that I use on my equipment utility trailers and lowboys Accoya which is treated Radiata Pine but have recently come to favor Brazilian Walnut as an affordable tough long lasting great appearence for extra heavy duty trailier decking. Love to see you running that MacGyvered and reconditioned milling section Using Weinig and a hand built ingenious vacuum chip removal system, just an amazing save of a high end mill that should last for many decades even if you have to make parts as new replacement mills at this level start at low six figure numbers for the basic mill w/o tooling.
