So I’ve been an iPhone user since the very first iPhone. I am tempted to upgrade to the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. The reasons im hesitant. Apple Card, Apple wallet, MacBook, AirPods, Apple HomePod, AirTags, Apple Music I’m so vested in the ecosystem that I’m having a hard time trying to figure out if I could switch devices. Finally I’m in so many iMessage group chats with family and friends that I will no longer be a part of if I switch.

Do not switch.. You will regret in few days. If you think you will get something much better than iPhone if you buy Pixel you really won't.. It will be fun and refreshing for few days but after that you will regret missing iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud + whole nice working ecosystem and you will miss how nice everything works on Apple devices (AirDrop, AirPods auto switching devices etc.).

I’m stuck in apples ecosystem as I own a 16” M1 Pro MacBook Pro and I love that it syncs between my iPhone. Especially text messages. My MacBook Pro is my primary laptop and used at home mostly for work as a software engineer. It’s my one and done computing needs. As for pc gaming I’ve built a pc desktop with an rtx 4080.

Thank you for your concise and fairly easy to understand information😊 I have a concern about making this change because I do not delete text messages - I frequently refer back to the messages for information. I no longer need to sync devices or connect devices or use any form of video chat so that looks good. Thank you!!

Well I can't really talk statistic, I see that apple is technically a giant only in the US due to their built ecosystem that runs through the people, but in my country Indonesia, apple is seen as a luxury brand that people don't really need to purchase if they don't need one, maybe the same in Italy as I lived there for 3 months and I didn't seen iPhone in mass number compare to the US

Bro, you're comparing iphone with samsung, but not android as a whole. I genuinely think that google pixel phones are WAY better than samsung phones. Most people comparing iphones with samsung only makes others change their mind when they try to switch. Also, plenty of apple services are available on Nothing phones, some may consider them as a good variant to switch too.

The problem is when you have all Apple services it can easily become tricky, like cloud, Password keychain, Hide my email, iCloud mail, iMessage, FaceTime... As you said losing ecosystem is pain point. Give me luck I ordered a Samsung Fold 6 from iPhone 15 Pro

I just switched from iphone to samsung and I'm so frustrated in how difficult it is. People with iphones are unable to send me texts and things. I already called apple and tried deregistering my imessage from my phone number but it's still unsuccessful. I like the samsung phone but the transition is NOT easy.

I recently switched back too Android after being an iPhone user for years. I traded my iPhone 14 for a Google Pixel 8Pro. My email has always been a Gmail account. I choose a Google Pixel 8Pro because I learned that the Pixel 8Pro has a lot more goodies in it. Also, the Google Pixel phones battery lasts a longer than an iPhone's battery. With Apple. You're always having too pay for 2 years of Apple Care. You should have also added the Google Android phone as as another switch party. Samsung is also very expensive just like Apple.

Ive had this case for more than 3 months now and the only cons i can think of is that it can be slightly slippery especially with wet hands and i've dropped it a good handful of times but it has always protected my phone and haven't had any damages on it but i always fear that one day i might drop it and crack my cameras since it is still kinda open and unprotected. Another con is that depending on the sceeen protector you choose it might peel the edges of it. over all i would rate this 8/10 specially if you want to have that type of minimalistic look since the phone is already big enough.

Ocean band and alpine loop aren’t designed to be removed quickly or easily. Both are for serious activities. Both are very comfortable too. I prefer both of those compared to my trail loop tbh. I still keep my titanium band on my ultra 2 for day to day use and swap when I do activities (water sports, climbing/hiking and running/cycling). I use each band for its intended use and each works as described (trail loop feels like a sweat band, alpine loop stays secure, ocean band is also very secure)

I’ve used apple all of my life. Finally decided to get the pixel 8. From what i can tell the only “downside” to switching is the apple commitment to making it as hard as possible for your data to not be easily transferrable across platforms. Apple works well, but only works well with apple. If you can get past this everything else is an upside. Better cost to performance ratio on devices and far more customizability. So tired of being pigeonholed screw apple.

Your band scratches and is directly under your wrist because you have chosen a band that is too small. An appropriately sized band will have the metal on the lateral side of your wrist, not on the inferior surface of your wrist.

I’m switching from an old hand-me-down iPhone 7 (with compatibility and battery issues) to an android phone with far better specs. I’ve used android before and I love it, with more features like better cameras, better processing and often better battery life. And I also love that it’s more compatible with Windows, and you can sideload and mod apps much easier than on iOS. Oh, and you can customise a lot more stuff, including custom ROMs.

Very helpful and balanced approach. Thanks for the insight. It was a great start for my research as I have to consider this switch in a much shorter period of time than I would like - a 5+year-old iPhone was lost/stolen, and I have to make this decision quickly. I would love to be done with Apple- I spent way too long in an endless circular loop just trying to get my FIndMy app to work and have been told that I will have to wait 27 days to get my password changed so I can access it. Really Apple?

Have been a Samsung user for a long time, and all the benefits that the apple ecosystem brings has come to Samsung as well and then some. Not all features are as slick as of apples but they are their in abundance. For 2 years have been forced to use an iPhone and I have never run out of battery on any Samsung device, this is probably due too the charching speeds but with the iPhone I have multiple times a week that I am out. And the freedom you get with a android device is far far far superiour, it doesn't require an samsung chip to interact with other devices.

I am a former Apple fanboy since 1980. Apple used to be the greatest computer company in the world, but oh! how the mighty have fallen. The shoddy way Apple now treats its customers is appalling. It wasn’t this way twenty years ago. The current situation parallels how bad things were under Scully’s 1990s management before Steve J returned and saved the company. But I am truly struggling to leave iOS. After Apple’s 17.4.1 update bricked my iPhone three days ago I have been researching Android options. What now holds me back is the amount of time needed in transferring passwords, and finding equivalent apps for things that worked smoothly on my iPhone. Then there’s contacts, calendars and email transitioning - all of it painful. Samsung’s Smart Switch software allegedly helps with this process, but from what I can determine it’s only a partial solution that works “some” of the time for some people, and only for Samsung phones as the destination. Smart Switch does nothing about contacts or email. Smart Switch looks like a one-way road with many potholes and a Road Closed sign near the end. By contrast, a huge plus of iOS for which Apple deserves zero credit is third party backup utility iMazing. Using iMazing for Mac / Windows makes keeping local iOS backups drop-dead simple. Because iMazing made a backup of my iPhone before Apple bricked my phone, swapping in a refurbished iPhone is SO MUCH EASIER than transitioning everything to Android: I can just plug a cable from iPhone to Mac and run an iMazing restore. The refurbished iPhone will be up and running in under an hour. Also, I still love my iPad Air which shares passwords and contacts seamlessly with my iPhone. Ditching iPhone sacrifices this seamless dual-iOS device experience - ie, The Ecosystem. In conclusion - like so many others, I feel trapped by Apple. I would love to pick up a Nothing Phone 2a and pry Apple’s gnarly fingers off my wrist, but the pain of transitioning is not insignificant. We’re talking weeks to months, not days. Android backup options I’ve seen for MacOS and Linux are nowhere near as simple as iMazing, AND I am NOT prepared to become a Windows user. Only Samsung appears to offer a relatively painless transfer option, Smart Switch, but even that feels like substituting one set of gnarly fingers for another. I hope others can understand the angst long time iPhone owners feel about switching. This video only hints at it.
