I rewatch this episode the most, what I love especially about it was that Tim met and got to know Jackson although it was just in two nights and with Tim, Jackson felt understood, safe, comfortable and trusted Tim in so little time than his whole life and upbringing by his parents. Tim even helped mend Hawk and Jackson’s relationship - him telling Jackson that in his own way, Hawk as his father loved him. I understand Lucy’s feelings and sympathise with how much pain she felt knowing that Tim was around and how much more and closer to Hawk’s heart and affections he was than her and that being why she got with their party guest. From Hawk’s perspective, he had had multiple affairs and hook ups throughout their marriage but with Tim he felt genuine love and a deep connection and he needed him - though I think more than for their love, Hawk needed Skippy around for Jackson. Marcus and Frankie’s storyline is also equally moving with how they both knew what they needed to do and where they needed to be for it and that they went together.

I have watched and continue to rewatch the show as it has captured my heart and continues to move me. All the actors, storylines and love stories were all written amazingly and all of them acted out a magnitude. I admit that although the things Hawk did make it so easy to see him as the villain, but I understand he needed to protect himself and that’s why he did what he did. Along with how the world was through the decades, Hawk’s background with his father was a catalyst for him. While he went through and suffered through a lot, he always closed himself off from feeling anything - that’s where Tim came in, he was by far the first and one of the few who opened Hawk up to feeling love and everything he felt. Hawk clearly felt a lot of guilt and shame deep down for how much he hurt Tim, but in the end as Tim told him what mattered more than anything was his love for him throughout it all. Tim knew that Hawk loved him, and Hawk knowing that Tim had always loved him through everything gave him peace of mind. The final scene where he stands over Tim’s memorial and tells his daughter that he was the man he loved ❤ Thank you for this.

Just that Nick needed someone. And Tao was there for him. That video remains one of my favourite moments of this show.

So well said about Tori's mental health part. I don't think people realise much about Tori's stress and mental dependency on Charlie. Charlie didn't '"leave" her for Nick, he was running away from a breakdown. But at the same time, Tori was left "alone", even when they get their whole family in that house. It's only because what she said, he is the only one she cares about. So I understand their decisions on the Christmas day. Charlie gets himself out of that situation, and should Tori. The character is quite different from the one in the graphic novel, if I may say. In the series, Tori expresses more, but clearly not enough. The discussion between Nick and aunt Diane should be heard and delivered to everyone, including Tori.

I have to say that as unrealistic as the skill is with which these kids talk about their emotions, I agree with you - I prefer it over the "realistic" narratives we usually see. Because people - not just kids their age, but anyone watching this - deserve to see a good, positive, healthy way to talk about some of these things. Not just the willingness to talk about it, but some actual things to *say* during those conversations that they might not have thought of. Queer narratives in particular are so important to depict in media for exactly these reasons, and I will take a show that maybe gives us an idealized narrative that can also provide folks a healthy starting place to discuss some of these things over the sort of narrative that is maybe more realistic, but just not helpful.

I love that they gave Tori more to do this season. One of the things that blew me away this season was the incredible chemistry between Joe and Jenny. They’ve always had it, but this season turned it up a notch.❤❤

I used to be into Klaus and Caroline back when the show was airing because I was eating up any bad boy/good girl ship at the time, but looking back at it a decade later it definitely hasn't stood the test of time for me partly because their scenes feel so random (thousand year old Klaus dealing with teenage breakup drama and sacrificing hybrids to go on a date doesn't fit the character he was built up as back in S2) and partly because I don't think it makes sense for Caroline's character in the same way I don't think it would make sense for Stefan to date Katherine even though their chemistry is fire and they have a fun dynamic.

I’m genuinely confused when people ship them since they make no sense 😂

So, this episode is, for the most part (and for the most part I mean just Christmas day), an adaptation of This Winter, a really short novel of Alice. You probably have it already, and I recommend reading it! It has a ton of skipped information and cool dialogue, as well as being narrated from the point of view of the 3 Spring siblings, so you'll get to see a bit of Tori's perspective on things. Personally, I found a lot of cute details this episode thanks to reading This Winter, such as recognising some minor characters that went unnamed in the adaptation and knowing some of the stuff that happened off-camera at some points

Do you remember what happened after that dinner Gerard invited Scott to with the family and after he stabbed Scott and told him if he didn't do what he said his mother would be next. that is why he helped him, the part missed out was him dropping his tablets and Scott picking them up for him. The last episode when Lydia knocked Derek and dragged him to the hole in the floor where Peter was, the blood of Derek brought Peter back, he was out of it until Deaton woke him with the dog whistle.

Thank you for understanding charlie’s perspective of leaving christmas to go to Nick’s house. I’ve seen so many people hate on Charlie for leaving and although i also feel for Tori and i wanted him to take her with him, i don’t think people realize the stress and mentality that Charlie was in in that moment and that he just needed to get out😭😭
