Bagels go in the toaster, sourdough or harder breads are for pans. I'm not making a bagel for leisure though, so popping it in the toaster is just faster.

Really liked the video, especially the last part emphasizing the willingness to endure rejection. Most people I know, and I also find myself guilty, get socially awkward when the fear of rejection amplifies. Getting rid of that fear through exposure really helps with getting better at social situations, but it requires willingness to endure rejection until you find, as you said, people similar to our "unique brand of human being". As a psychologist, the only thing I would disagree with is the genetic part of social awkwardness and shyness. Several personality traits correlate with how good people are in social situations, mainly extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, which have a certain genetic component, but that doesn't mean people can't do anything about it and that they should use that as an excuse as you mentioned. It's like saying: "man I won't train my biceps 'cause my muscle insertions suck" - dude, get over it and make that bicep peak as high as Mount Everest... if that makes any sense haha. Overall, great video, will definitely check out the rest of them.

You say all of this like people *want* to be healthy. Ever heard of alcohol, cigarettes, narcotics, junk food, abusive relationships? The list goes on. At this point, I'm sure humanity is totally fine with it's path of self destruction.

Here at BPR, we believe the best and that everyone inherently wants to live a healthy life! I do see where you are coming from, but I think the point you are trying to make is more of a character issue than a health issue. I don't think people wake up wanting to be unhealthy or bound by an addiction. I also believe that it is important to have grace for people. You never know what someone is going through or how they got in the position that they are in. I hope you choose to see the glass half full in the future!

I like your approach, I started training as a coach for a second career, then I spent two years training to become a therapist, I am now pivoting back to coaching as improving Health over addressing psychopathology or deficits is what inspires me, I am curious if your program is aimed at Fitness coaches, I am interested in behaviour change, and spend most of my free time studying theories. All the best

Sometimes, it takes another person to open our eyes to ourselves. May years ago, I was on the practice range at a local golf course and I couldn't hit any club for sh!t. I went in the clubhouse, got a cold drink, and sat looking out the window. Then, I see a man on the range who has only 1 arm. He's hitting a ball, then putting the club down to mop his brow, then hits another. I looked at him and said to myself, "Why are you upset? You have 2 arms and no physical problems, so just analyze what you're doing and fix it." That man put things into perspective for me and I've never forgotten.

These are great tips! I personally lost 26 pounds over the course of a year with tracking, taking it slow with maintenence breaks mixed in. Tracking was really helpful for figuring out what it feels like to eat at maintenance but I would love to eventually move away from it as long as my weight stays stable.

🙄 you don’t have to use scales to track your calories - especially if you’re cooking it yourself. Good luck anyone ever knowing when they’re ever “80% full” - I’ll take a 20% error calorie tracking over a random guess at my ability to eat more. Classic bad science re sleep - misunderstanding correlation and causation - overweight people have worse sleep quality because they’re overweight - poor sleep is not a trigger for obesity. Excess body weight causes poor sleep due to hypoventilation of the lungs (obstructive sleep apnoea). The same underlying triggers cause poor sleep AND obesity - such as poor mental health, eating at night or exercising less all predispose to poor sleep. Also 😂 at this behavioural scientist who forgets to mention using smaller plates!! Eating off a smaller plate/dish/bowl causes you to feel fuller earlier and actually eat less food. I don’t doubt the effort and good intention but PLEASE speak to some nutritionists/exercise scientists/ drs about your nutrition ideas - I hope you and them could learn a lot.

I heard you out and I have to disagree... This is very bad information you can not for example just eat 4k calories a day of a good food because it is not processed and magically not gain weight energy is energy and this has been proven by doctors who am I not thousands of times through thousands of different studies. Weighing food is actually not even that hard LOL it takes me like 5 seconds. In that 5 seconds ensures that I do not exceed my limit. I'm not a nutritionist but I can tell you that I've personally met at least 10 people in my life who tracked calories and most of them stuck with it and kept they keep getting stronger. No cardio only lift and count calories and make sure that your getting.7 grams protein per pound not 1 per pound
