I have a question. There is a debate about the hose in the bottle. Some fill the bottle with an inch or two of brake fluid to suck fluid back into the tube eliminating bubbles. Others use no fluid as you did. I have always used some fluid in the jar which is correct

What would you use to clean the reservoir when you dispense a different type of fluid or do you actually need to clean it?
@mityvactools2 ай бұрын
You can clean the reservoir with a good quality degreasing soap, rinse, then allow to dry. Generally, most engine oils with similar characteristics don't need to perform more than a simple wipe-down. If moving to/from a transmission fluid or brake fluid as an example, the reservoir needs to be fully cleaned and dried prior to adding the new fluid type, and the tubing will need to be flushed. We recommend having a separate reservoir and dispensing hoses dedicated to brake fluid and other specialty fluids to limit contamination issues. ~ John

One of the most important points in this video, ask me how I know, is to leave the master cylinder cap loose!! Otherwise you can pump forever and never get any fluid through the lines! Also, I had much better luck with the little pointed adaptors that just stick in the bleeder. And, I found that a couple rounds of teflon tape on the threads of the bleeder works better than grease, and not as messy. :) Good video and great product! I think I am going to add a magnetic hook on mine for some hands free help. ;)

I'm sorry to hear that, the pin can be reinserted into the pinhole on the plunger shaft, and the handle reattached. Add a drop or two of thin air tool oil down the nozzle and cycle a few times slowly. This should prevent the issue from occurring again. ~ John

That's what my wife is for 😂 I bought one of those manual pumps but the problem I had was the hose to valve connection leaking air or air getting sucked in from outside and I didn't want to bother with having to coat everything with grease or something just to seal that connection. Having someone pump and hold the brakes takes no time and I don't have to deal with crappy hose to valve connections. I guess if you really can't get another person to help or do a lot of brake bleeds these things are worth it. But I didn't see mention of how sealed your hose to valve connection was? What if it's not secure.....how do you seal it to prevent external air from being pulled in from the vacuum? Good video though 😊

Love MityVac products, but at $350 for the kit, this thing is overpriced. The Motive, while manual, will be about 1/3 the price even after buying a couple of adapters. And it works perfectly fine.
@mityvactools8 ай бұрын
Our MV7100 Series units are capable of both pressure dispensing and evacuation in one reservoir unit. Compare that to Motive, which has one unit for evacuation and one for dispensing. The MV7840 is one of many kit options we offer. In this case we configured the MV7840 kit shown in this video with our pressure brake adapters. This kit can be expanded by purchasing extra reservoirs, adapters and tubes to perform a variety of fluid handling tasks centered around the base evacuation and dispensing unit. ~John

The plunger under the lid is a high level shut off to prevent fluid from entering the line to the venturi. there should be a rubber seal the plunger contacts, this should be an open port until the plunger closes this passage. ~John

What do you think is the smallest air compressor I can use to operate this extractor?
@mityvactools11 ай бұрын
I have seen these run off 10gallon compressors before. Users generally needed to watch for the fluid to begin moving indicating a vacuum formed before shutting off valve to prevent the compressor from quickly depleting or constantly running. typically though a decent sized tank(20 gallon +) with a high CFM output motor is recommended. To run these units, a compressor that can generate 4.5 - 5 CFM or more will typically work just fine. You can run the MV7300 off a lower volumed compressor, however constant throttling and monitoring of the compressor is necessary. ~ John
@Mark-rw3kw2 ай бұрын
Even the smallest air compressor will work. You could probably even use a 12V tire inflator except that the connector on the end has to be a Universal Coupler, and not a tire inflator connector that is permanently attached to most 12V small tire inflators. I currently use a Makita 1 gal tank air compressor and it works fine.

Do you sell replacement tanks? I’d like to have one for dispensing oils and a second for brake fluid. I’m concerned with possible cross contamination of the fluids. Not so much an issue with power steering and tranny, but gear lube to brake….. Or do you have a cleaning recommendation that you feel should do a good enough job

Don't waste your money. Get speed bleeders for about 18 bucks per pair. I use a 10 buck motorcycle clutch one-way bleeder.. no second person need..
@bywayz Жыл бұрын
This needs to include a tight clamp where the hose slips onto the bleeder valve. (Please don't suggest customers go out and find/buy one somewhere.) Nothing I tried -- the suggested grease included -- prevented air from being sucked in between the hose and the bleeder valve. It's now sitting on a shelf, money and time wasted.

@VegasRT500 Жыл бұрын
What I did was slip the hose onto the bleeder valve and then install a zip tie around it so there is a very tight seal. Hopefully this helps and prevents your tool from just sitting on the shelf as wasted money. Have a good day.
@bywayz Жыл бұрын
I did that as well, but air still is sucked in via the valve threads. It's why pressure to push out the fluid and air works, and why sucking it out fails.
@HerbertAtkinson Жыл бұрын
Should never have to use grease on threads of the bleeding valves, there is good chance the grease residue will get into the the brake lines & will contaminate the brake fluid, a bleeder valve should only be opened at max 1/4 turn only, as for using a hand pump is something I never use I am old school no need for these vacuum pumps.

So i recently bought one from a tool dealer. My GM adaptor 803 keeps leaking from the back side when pressurized. I have a friend that has the same adapters and used his 803, still leaks. Tired the other gm adapter and it does not fit. The master cylinder is brand new OEM. '05 2500Hd silverado. My first time using this specific bleeder, is ot suppose to have a gasket besides the O-Ring? Thanks again 👍 i love the bleeder and dont want to have to return it.
@mityvactools Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the 803 adapter. The o-ring is the only seal on this adapter and seals internally in the neck of the master cylinder reservoir. while a rare occurrence, please check the inside cylinder of the reservoir for any imperfections such as a seam or deformed plastic that could create an area where the o-ring would not seal against. The only other possibility is a damaged o-ring on the adapter. Please reach out to our tech service department for any additional troubleshooting or warranty questions. I am starting to notice that factory service manuals for modern cars require a second person to pump the brake pedal WHILE the power/ pressure bleeder is connected and the bleeder nipple open, In other words the classic pump and hold method is added on the regular pressure bleeding process which is confusing, I always thought that pressure bleeding does not require any movement from the master cylinder, and that two person pump and hold sequence is only for the classic manual bleeding process, but factory service manuals are very specific about it , what's your thoughts on this?
@mityvactools Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment. This is a new method for me. Our understanding is that in some cases newer vehicles with ABS may need a scan tool attached to activate the system to bleed the pump and accumulator. We are constantly trying to improve our tool lineup, is there any way you could send us this procedure and what vehicles this pertains to? Feel free to send to [email protected] and make a note to forward it to the Mityvac product manager. Thank you, John
