I use this to straighten my hair. However, I spray my hair with a protectant and lightly spray it with a leave in conditioner. I try not to get it too wet. Then I set the brush on level 2 or 3 depending on how much time has went by since I last used it. This is all that I use. It has been approximately two years now..❤
