Confused what to get.. Z900 or trident 660? What is your opinion?
@motomaverickusa6 күн бұрын
Well, that’s not really an apples to apples comparison; they are both naked bikes, but the similarities stop there. The Trident is a 660 cc inline 3 cylinder, the Z900 is a 948 cc inline 4. The Z900 makes much more power and torque than the Trident and has a bigger gas tank. The stylings are also very different. I think a more accurate comparison in the Triumph line would be the Street Triple RS; the stylings are more similar, as well as power output. If you are a beginner rider, that’s a lot of bike. I would suggest at the very least, sitting on all of these bikes and find out what is more comfortable for you. I think comfort and confidence are the most important things. Hope this helps!
@ThePallav576 күн бұрын

Good review. Triumph knocked it out of the park with the Trident and the updates they have on it (sport mode, quickshifter/auto blipper, cruise control, etc.) for 2025 without upping the price at all makes it all the more appealing. From some early reviews I've seen, the addition of the sport mode for 2025 really wakes up the throttle response on the bike; like having the ECU flashed but only for 1 mode, rain and road still have a bit of lag on the throttle which isn't a bad thing. Quick question: where'd you get the union jack radiator guard?
@motomaverickusaАй бұрын
@@lightxgrenade there are definitely a few of the new “stock” items I would be interesting in adding to my bike. I’ve never used a quick shifter, but people swear by it. The sport mode would be a VERY welcome change to open things up without having to go with an aftermarket tune, which I’m really considering after a change to the exhaust system. Union Jack radiator guard was purchased on eBay. It wasn’t too expensive.

Great review! How do you think this bike would be for 3-5 hour rides vs the bonneville?
@motomaverickusaАй бұрын
I’ve done a couple ~5 hour rides on it and it’s totally doable. I can’t imagine the Bonnie would be a ton better, unless you put a windscreen on it. The Trident riding position is slightly more forward, so it just boils down to preference.
@mikegail755520 күн бұрын
As a Bonnie owner who is about to have a Trident as a second bike, they're both comfortable but the Bonnie is a proper couch compared to a a good sitting chair that the Trident is. I'm 5'11" 240# with a 32" inseam.
@motomaverickusa20 күн бұрын
@@mikegail7555 great info, thanks for sharing. Different riding positions always make me think about how my back would feel, one of the reasons I sold my cruiser. I find the slightly forward position helps keep the weight off my lower back. With the Bonnie being more upright, have you noticed any back pain on longer rides?
@mikegail755520 күн бұрын
@@motomaverickusa Nope. No back pain, no hip, knee, neck, etc. On long rides it's typically just fatigue from sitting still for however long. But having put a couple hundred miles on Tridents about 30 minutes at a shot I'm interested in seeing how it does for longer rides of an hour or more. The Bonneville is a properly capable all-around bike and with your feet just a bit behind your knees it's still really maneuverable but the extra hundred pounds of curb weight over the Trident still means you have to be slightly mindful of diving into turns. A better rider than myself could probably get more out of my bike, but that's them. I want the Trident because at my skill level it's sharper than the Bonnie without much more input.
@motomaverickusa20 күн бұрын
@mikegail7555 a Bonnie is definitely on my list of bikes I’d like to own. I’ve had a couple cruisers, still own the Trident and a Tiger 800. Almost bought the Bonnie over the Trident, but I just loved the naked look and maneuverability of it. Plus, I have a weak spot for the triple motor. Some track days are also a possibility in the future, and I think the Trident might be better suited for that.

@motomaverickusaАй бұрын
I did sit on an older model awhile back, but I can’t remember the riding position on it. I will say that can be adjusted with bar risers, or different handlebars altogether. As someone that rode a cruiser for years, then the Tiger, and now this, the sportier position did take a little bit to get used to. I have grown to like it, though, or at least my back has. 😂
@Nucklehead-mm9gfАй бұрын
@motomaverickusa Yeah ive been riding Harleys for years now so these style bikes are definitely going to be a big adjustment for me to get used to but I really just want something lightweight, faster and easier on my hips and tailbone. I’d definitely say the naked bike category would fit what you’re looking for. I really liked the styling of the Trident, which is why I went this direction. Generally the break in oil is thicker than regular oil to let things bed in. After the oil change in the first service to the regular weight oil you'll have less drag on components allowing it to rev a bit quicker and gain a few horsepower.

Makes sense, but I wouldn’t think that oil viscosity would play a huge role in horsepower gains; I’ve done several break-ins, rebuilt some motors, etc. and haven’t noticed it like that before. My wife has ridden my Tiger 800 with me, though, we were both comfortable and the bike did great. The 660 motors have a little less power, but are also much lighter. I would assume the bike could handle it, as long as your passenger is comfortable on the pillion; there’s not much seat there. I would definitely suggest getting the both of you to sit on it and see how it feels.
