I see you are using a Xona UHF copied design for the turbine. They are pretty notorious for having wastegate / boost control / creep issues because the lower backpressure created by the design makes the wastegates flow worse, what are you doing about that and to mitigate / minimize creep? Are you porting or making the internal wastegates bigger than usual or doing anything else? Or does the customer just have to live with more creep than a lower efficiency turbine?
@onboostperformance700
@onboostperformance700 6 күн бұрын
Hey mate, that’s a big presumption regarding "copying", I actually came up with not the same, but a 'similar' design more than 10 years ago, xona just got to market first with their version $$$. Many years ago I machined an original 10 blade turbine wheel to try to make it as light as possible and increase flow. Iv been doing R&D for many years but back then I couldn't find a company to manufacture and casting a turbine wheel was very expensive . Just so you are aware this isn't my first sale 😄 Iv been doing this for awhile now and in regards to this particular turbine wheel Iv had it on my car for 2 years and by the way Iv used far bigger turbine wheels with no “boost creep’ issue. I also monitor back pressure and have remained close to 1:1 running @29psi with no boost creep, as long as you have the correct wastegate setup- boost creep is not an issue. I nor any of my customers have had any problems. I have also trialed a range of exhaust housings from small to large. I have invested many years and money into research and don't sell anything that is not put together and tested by myself. Just so you know, boost creep / over boosting is normal to turbo life and it's nothing that can't be fixed, you just need to have the wastegate set up correctly. To give you some perspective this particular customer has already been running my 66mm turbine wheel + same exhaust housing @ 26psi and has had no issue with boost creep /or over boosting issues because this is all set up correctly. Most guys with this sort of setup (even a smaller turbine wheel) would generally have 2:1 or more back pressure depending on how much boost they are running. This turbo is designed to run high boost so generally you would monitor backpressure BUT Iv found that dropping hasn't been an issue and its not a written rule that it will occur especially if your wastegate is flowing correctly. FYI -wastegate port design and position. If there ever was a "boost creep issue" I would port the person's exhaust housing - its really nothing that cant be fixed, I've already helped lots of people with boost creep from a range of turbo brands, its a normal part of turbo life. Knowing how to work with an exhaust manifold / exhaust housing is a part of turbo development. I stand by my products and help my customers because I know what I'm doing and I love what I do. I spend time with lots of people, hence I'm even making videos with customers, because I enjoy being involved and achieving good results 👍.

Hi Barry, thanks for your comment mate 👍 The FG rocket cover will actually fit on any BA/BF- You can still use your BA/BF coils also, however if you do, I would recommend that you check the gap between the top of the coils to the plastic cover. I have found that if the coils are not held down then they can start to loosen, so I chose to swap to the FG coils because they can be bolted down.

Hi Chris, thanks for your feedback! - I appreciate that you’ve noticed that I am doing something that not many are. This sort of power is not new for me however working within stock parameters with a small frame turbo. I have been trying and achieving many things for many years to see what’s possible, its been a journey of learning that’s for sure!!! It was only in the last 5 Iv decided to become full time at it, but there were some circumstances that have delayed my social medias, website etc and I have always sold product without them. I wanted to share what was possible with people who dont want to waste time or waste money on fluff. Iv made this power on both mainline hub and dynotech hub. I invest a lot of time into research and development and did not want to come forward until I had done that. I have the data. Also, if you want to speak to the dyno guys and ask them - they know it was a small frame turbo, I can give you a few contacts. I understand what you are saying regarding the shelf life so to speak however the difference is I take care of the car and I don’t thrash it, it is also important to have tuning done correctly. Its not like Im running this boost constantly and technically guys have had cars exist longer on higher boost. Anything can happen, built or not, but yes eventually I will be building a new engine. I still have more parts coming for the small frame because I really haven’t finished pushing the limits yet!!! I also have another car to do some experimentation on. Also, Check out tomorrow nights video see that run and what needs to be upgraded next. Cheers 👍

Hi. I have a problem, i have a gen 1 gtx3582r and a gen 2 gtx3582r both garretts sitting in my shed. I currently have a garrett gt3582r on my fgx with 400rwkw at 16 psi. My tuner couldnt get boost control sorted even after 3 separate attempts and tryiing to sort it on country back roads, he couldnt stop the boost from surging/fluctuating, it would boost up and seem like it hit a boost cut then drop boost then boost up and down. So i ended up bypassing stock boost control solenoid and running straight off 19psi springs gate pressure, i have a turbosmart gen v 45mm plumbed off turbine housing. So boost cant be limited, its all in. It goes awesome as it is, but im keen for a bit more power. Youre a GTX35 man so i thought you would have a good idea, does gen 1 gtx 3582 come on slightly later than gt35r? Its a road car on 98octane, i love the early spool it currently has and not sure which turbo to put on. Im never going to use the full potential of the gen2 ie 500rwkw but will the gen 1 be too brutal on the engine down low given im running straight off the gate pressure? Im confident i could run gen 2 off gate pressure because it comes on in 3000rpm range. What turbo would you put on? Cheers

Atomic 's stuff is usually of good quality and Yella Terra has the history and is Australian made-, both generally have higher standards.
