Spoilers . . . . . The reasons you stopped are the same reasons I chose not to pick up the 2nd book after reading Belladonna. I really liked the first book but what really ruined it for me was the creepy grooming dynamic between her and Death. He literally knew her since she was a baby and acted as almost a guardian of her, then later on when they get together he's like "I've waited an eternity for you, you were made for me" and shit like that and I was like um.... grooming? So I'm also super bummed. I honestly would've LOVED if instead of a romance, he acted as more of a father figure for her and protected her from the family members who had bad intentions with her and instead had an almost adoptive father type role with her. There's not enough books in this genre of fantasy that really embrace familial relationships and bonds, and I feel like him being a father figure for her would've been DRASTICALLY better.

I recently read Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, I absolutely ate it up and I remember hearing a lot of people didn't like Ruthless Vows - glad I don't listen to other people's book opinions too hard, bc I LOVED Ruthless Vows!!!

I love videos like this!!! Every year I have grand plans to do this for my YA Fairyloot books every year just to document my own thoughts but then never do 🤣

What a nice bunch! I can't wait to read "The God of the Woods" and want to check "Annie Bot" and "So Thirsty" too. You always choose such an interesting reads. I've had a 3 stars September, the books were interesting to talk about, but less enjoyable, than I hoped for. "28 summers" by Elin Hildebrand was the one I've read the longest and while it felt engaging to continue, characters were really annoying and the subject of constant cheating wasn't handled like it's something bad. Have better hopes for the rest of October, because so far I've had a 3 and 4 stars read and I really want to love a book I read next. I missed that 5 star feeling.

I liked Annie Bot too. I literally wanted to jump into the story and slap Doug around for his abuse and idiocracy 😡. I rated it 3.75. I enjoyed the first 2/3 more than the final third because I felt like the story lost some of its momentum and didn’t have the climactic ending I was hoping for. I’m reading The House in the Cerulean Sea next month with my book club and I’m so excited!

I read Margos Got Money Troubles and absolutely loved it. I randomly selected it for Book of the Month and was so pleasantly surprised.

I also read The God of the Woods in September and 100% agree with your thoughts!! I was so captivated the whole time, loved diving deeper into the characters, and thought the mystery/ending was satisfying. Also gave Cerulean Sea 5 stars, loved it too!! ❤️

Being in a reading slump is so painful, I feel you!! Fantasy is and always will be my most read genre, but I've loved stepping outside my comfort zone. Recently got addicted to Emily Henry's books and never thought that genre would ever work for me lol I think being a book content creator makes reading a little more stressful than the usual reader, so be gentle to yourself!! People will stick around to watch regardless :)

Oh, the boxes we put ourselves in and our extra nervous minds are quite a combo. I totally get what you say. In my case I'm a reader of many genres, but it's a stressful thing sometimes and oh do I get overwhelmed with options. Totally makes sense to choose one genre, but yeah, after some time you totally can get stuck in it. I also had a shame to read some books, because people around me judged my choices sometimes, that's why I more often talk about my reading in Booktube comments and not in real life still, even now, after many years, and even while don't giving a damn in most cases anymore. Also I have a fear of big books and series, because I'm easily distracted. Audiobooks help with that, because I often listen on x1,75 speed. So yeah, hugging you from here. I wish for you to get from this box in your own pace. From books you've mentioned I've read "Homegoing" and really liked it. I'd love to read some of these together with you or simply in one month, maybe that will help. Because me myself just recently crawled out of big reading slump. Started my year like a mad woman, with so many books, but then life and mental health got in a way, so reading wasn't bringing me joy at all. Currently try to make my way through little End of Summer Tbr I put for myself, and Beach read is in it. I'm not pressuring myself though, because I've recently read The Guest List by Lucy Foley with mom and that book messed my summer reading mood, because now I want to be a detective all of a sudden and read books where I'll have to guess who's the murderer 🤣🤣. Autumn gets a prize. Please, just know also, that your reading taste is yours and no adequate person would judge you here when you review nonfiction or thriller or full-on spicy romance. I love these editions, but I haven't got one yet, because I prefer audiobooks at the moment and unfortunately, box will be too expensive for me at the moment, especially with international shipping. But nonetheless, I think this subscription service is totally worth it, because those editions are simply stunning.🌸❤️

You said it yourself but I will repet it: stupid thinking ;) I can imagine that reading everything can be overwhelming as there are soooo maaany new releases etc. (hello me and my reading slump 2 years ago) but you're missing so many great book! I'm so esxcited that you will add other genres to your wrap ups. Good luck! :) When you were reading your list I was like: oh, this one is good, and this one, bascially I would recommend almost everything from the list but my personal favourites are 7 husbands of evelyn hugo and lessons in chemistry.
