I was in Myrtle Beach in September of this year. It so strange seeing all the vacant lots all over the City.

I was told you only have to walk backwards around her three times.... Did not know about the ring.... I was also told she walks the road in front of the church waiting for the man she was engaged to when he returned from the war.... RIP Alice ❤️

I was a teenager in the 80’s so I know a thing or three about the 80’s. I also have a airbnb trailer in SC. I know how popular the 80’s were and had the thought to make a 80’s themed rental too. I already have vcr player, bunch of vhs tapes, cassettes and player. I got a newer record player but got bunches of records. Does a 80’d themed rental get renters?

I was living in Myrtle Beach on July 4th, 1987. Stationed at MBAFB. I think the 50s and the 80s were Myrtle Beach's prime decades. Glad to have experienced it at that time, it was awesome.

Customer service and professionalism are paramount. The customer is always right; customers fuel the business. No satisfied customers equals no revenue. Today, I requested to sit at a table primarily due to my many orthopedic issues. I can not sit in booths due to my height, weight, and handicaps. This is how you treat a cancer patient. The nonchalant attitude of the hostess was disturbing. There was not a crowd, so there were plenty of tables. I requested to speak to the manager. She didn't have the decorum to come and to speak with me directly. She finally wanted me to sit at a small table, but her attitude was so unpleasant. I left. I will never return. Finally, I want to address the offensive name of this restaurant: Mammy's Kitchen. A name that was given to black women in persecution and cruel servitude. NAACP and other civil rights organizations will be contacted for this business' discriminatory practices. Today, I got treated like "mammy" even though I am a professional with four degrees and a list of accomplishments as a productive citizen. Respectfully, Dr. S

What Rik Flair did do was hang out beside it at the Marlin Quay, he had a boat docked there. Probably how the rumor started.

Great video, just saw it today for the first time. One little thing I don't think anyone noticed. US 501, as we know it now, did not exist! Traffic to and from Conway traveled on Broadway to Hwy 15, across what is now the runway in MB, and out what is now SC 707, across the Socastee draw bridge to Conway. Just a fun fact I learned from my dad when he was a child. Keep up the good work!

Enjoyed your video. Towards the end I saw what appeared to be a lookout tower. I know the East Coast had structures for coastal defense from German U Boats. 1942 we were in World War 2 and I was curious if this was one such structure.

Same hotel, nothing special, beds uncomfortable AF! I repeat beds are uncomfortable AF! Only good things are access to the ocean, free breakfast, and pool. Over priced....TOTALLY DISSAPOINTED

My father and My grandparents have a house next to the bright green Octagon house ( you can see in the video at 3:12 or at the very end ). I also used to work for Beach Realty Rentals and was always at the house across the street (GulftStream Breeze) I love the UFO house. I was told they let the research team from the college use it sometimes also. I drove past that home 5 times maybe 8 times a day for 6 years.

Such a huge mistake tearing this place down😠 This was the heart of Myrtle Beach and I had great memories from my childhood going here, despite changes they made to it like removing the Galaxi Coaster and Water Slide for the Mad Mouse and removing the Corkscrew for the Hurricane, it still was a staple of my visits here aside from golfing and the beach. RIP A real shame considering the land was left empty for all those years!

Does anyone remember another smaller water park that was down in the Surfside area? It would've been there from the mid 80s until at least the mid 90s. It was a much smaller park that consisted of just about three slides that curved around each other. You rode down the slides on blue foam mats. They had another tall speed slide off to the side as well. That one had a plastic thing you sat on, and the slide itself was a bunch of steel rollers, and when you hit the bottom you'd shoot across the surface of the water. Maybe it was an early version of this park before it evolved, but I don't think so. However, I do think there may have been a go-kart track and possibly some bumper boats nearby, but not in the same park.
