Don't answer your phone before your break is officially over (40 minutes or whatever). Then proceed to the changeover point. If your bus is not there within 5 minutes you call them. IBUS abuses the drivers and you have no strength left to say no or fight back.

Bus drivers don't work for TFL. The IBUS is a fully automated system once a driver log in with the paynumber and enter Running Number, Duty Number, Trip Number. The bus is then in "service" and the system is completely automated. Changes can be made only by the driver or the controllers (IBUS) and they don't work for TFL as well.

I was always told that in a bus, train, plane or any other public transport, the driver is the authority, and we must respect that. If the bus driver has bad behaviour (like a really aggressive driving or skipping bus stops) it's obviously justified to be mad at the driver. But all you did was follow the rules as any driver should. You used your authority as expected. The passengers should feel ashamed and direct their anger towards the rule breaker. If the driver says you're out, you're out. Paying a ticket is only ONE of the many rules one is supposed to follow when using a public transport. Their logic is "Since I followed one rule, it doesn't matter I'm breaking the others!". Pathetic.

To say 'I don't feel safe' and that's why he has to leave the bus was nonsense and simply retaliation for the passenger daring to have a civil disagreement with you. You wanted to punish him because you disagreed with him. Not because you actually felt genuinely unsafe. I've noticed this increasingly over the last few years, while public facing roles undoubtedly face a totally unacceptable level of abuse many on the other side of the fence also seem to have responded by equating any disagreement with abuse, often then accompanied by coming out with phrases such as bus driver did, which is not actually genuine, but an excuse to implement a retaliation on the person who had a disagreement with them. You had a minor disagreement, and you completely failed to even try and understand his perspective. He was alarmed by the noise from the doors as he was boarding. Frankly I'd have been nervous as well. Saying 'you closed the doors in my face' doesn't have to mean literally. This could have easily been defused, you chose to escalate. What a total overreaction. Over reacting to a complaint helps nothing, and loses you support for the many, many situations where you face actual abuse.

You are either salary man or you are citizen. "see it, say it, sorted", don't apply for a salary man like you or your brother. I am a citizen and my first care is society and how to ensure the safety of said society as safe society means safer world for my self and my family. Your brother is salary man and his first care is salary, then what he will buy with said salary and a salary man doesn't care about society as long as he gets salary. Yes since Covid prices went double, yes people are struggling, yes the police reports of crimes haven't gone down in fact the numbers have gone up. A person like you or your brother that always looks for the silver lining and is there for the salary will never find the problems and even if you find them will never address them. After all it's part of TFL policies "see it, say it, sorted". I as bus driver was not TFL employee, but I had TFL passengers of my service and the "see it, say it, sorted" had to be part of my work. If you can't follow the "see it, say it, sorted" routine, then you aren't part of anything but the salary man club. My videos are about the moments when I find the problems and I address them. A salary man like you will never see them and will always look for the silver lining. If I ask you to explain what I did wrong your only argument can be "You didn't ignored the passenger and you didn't kept driving" which is normal response for a salary man like yourself. Have a nice life MR. salary man and if one day you have enough money that you don't need to worry for bills, work, pension, rent/mortgage, sickness, family having food and roof. When that one day comes you will maybe become a citizen, until then live your salary man life.

As a London Bus Driver you are not allowed to use any electronic devices while driving. That includes earphones, handsfree and radio. After this to learn the other bus routes you must do so at your day off, then call the CDM or Allocation so you get paid for that day off. All the other drivers that rather ignore the small issues, turn the blind eyes or chose to do nothing and say nothing are just lazy and incompetent people that can't separate their own crappy life from their job. As a train guard many of us face very similar situations, so this is a very interesting insight to have. I fully stand behind your decision. Had someone “egress” (green handle on UK trains that forces the train into a stop and opens the adjacent door) the other day and while he did just run off, I had no problem in keeping the train stationary until I was fully certain the door was locked and the train was safe to depart, even if it took a while to do so. Safety comes first.

If I am a train guard I don't think I will be able to make any judgement calls: So many people inside the train. Limited number of tracks can delay the whole service or create danger if the train stay stationary. It's a intercity service. It's a much more severe situation, because of the scale of it and the knock on effects it can have on the whole service. On the bus I know the next bus stop is within 2-8 minutes walk and the next service is 6-12 minutes away and it can easy go around me. The people that realized why I stopped the bus, good to know people like that are within our society. The people that started arguing, we don't need antisocial behavior supporters and their inflated ego to enable and embolden the offenders.

Bloody hell you terminated the whole service and inconvenienced everyone else on the bus because you couldn’t handle ONE guy getting on at the traffic lights because you ‘didn’t feel safe driving because of him’??? Then you start going at the other passengers with your ‘I decide this I decide that’. The amount of times while driving buses I had people do silly things like this but you don’t terminate the service just because you get upset and feel like it, grow up mate. ‘In danger and your life is threatened’ What a joke, grow a pair and just drive the bus mate and stop with your hissy fits. I’d hate to think what you’d do if there was an actual emergency on the bus.
@Not-a-Cockroach
@Not-a-Cockroach Ай бұрын
A bus driver is the person in charge of the bus. Many drivers don't realize that or are too lazy to care. "Operating the emergency door release is a bylaw offense and can be prosecuted". While you are in charge of a bus and you chose to ignore an offender you are enabling and emboldening that person which makes you a person that doesn't care about society and by proxy you support antisocial behavior. I can see from your comment that you don't have active stance and you don't care much about having safe and progressive society that have social rules. The fact that you mention the words "danger" and "life threatened", means that you don't even realize I at no point used these words or even acted on any such thing. As shown in the video there are multiple passengers committing offences as well as confronting me as a bus driver. I don't just stand up to multiple people at the same time, I do so alone ensuring I don't embolden and enable offenders and antisocial behavior. Enabling and emboldening offenders actually damages society. Me not doing it, while causing discomfort to multiple people is a beneficial in the long run since the offenders will think twice next time. Where if I do as you do, enabling and emboldening them, they will keep the antisocial behavior and the offences without second thoughts.

As a bus driver you aren't allowed to stop driving, because some one have not validated their ticket. I know some drivers do it, but "it's the passengers responsibility to validate their ticket" and the driver have to mark the fare evasion so there wont be a trouble if inspection happens. For almost 2 years I moved hundreds of thousands of people and I refused to drive around 10 times. 3-4 of them were for no ticket. On general there were from 3-7 fare evasions on average per trip on that bus. Usually there are 18-24 buses running doing between 100-180 trips depending on the route. So per day on a bus route there are between 300-1000 or more fare evasions. Just don't tell TFL I told you these numbers. On average a bus route loses over half a million PER YEAR to fare evasion and we have hundreds of bus routes.

You can recognize them by the destination board signs. They are more different on these upgraded versions.

TESL1.10 would you knock on the driver’s door of a underground train because you just didn’t get to the open doors in time? Most bus passengers are opportunistic as they either just wait for a specific route or just see a bus that is headed in their direction. Knocking on vehicles is also extremely rude!!

Driver was well within his rights to react this way. A member of the public using the emergency door button is no different to someone pulling the emergency cord on a train. Its there for emergencies only not because you couldnt be arsed to check the timetable or stick your hand out when it approached.
