You have no idea how thrilled I am to have stumbled onto you from instagram. As an Afro Caribbean woman I have recently found my voice to say “mental health” as it exists is more damaging than almost anything. It victimizes people to then medicate them. Your voice means more than you can know.

Temachtiani - Cihuatlatoani Dra. Meza, I appreciate you sharing your deep wisdom with us all! Your teachings reaffirm what I’ve known for many moons yet your words provide much more clarity and they inspire me to continue parting the veils of illusion that were orchestrated by the colonizers to maintain their self serving system. I look forward to your upcoming teachings. Tlazokamati - Thank You! ✊🏾💜✌🏾

Thanks for posting your new video, Dr. Meza! I always watch your videos several times to make sure they sink in and I can dance with them. The "sense of urgency" and its creation is colonial as my ancestors never heard of urgent matters. Everything was "going with the flow" - enjoy the life as you go. Holding ourself in this mode of hustle and grind is one of the depreciating ways to look ourself down up and view the colonial supremacy as a "mission impossible". Muchas gracias!

Muchisimas gracias Dra 🙏As an HSP and neurodivergent person my body / mind / spirit has been sending me this message for some years now. It took me collapsing in 2017 to really receive this message. It's such an important topic and issue for us to address so we can start to challenge these systems and how we've internalized them. I struggle a lot seeing this and being in conversation with folks in social justice spaces who continue to perpetuate this way of being in our internal and external work & dynamics. It would be amazing if one day you could make a video specifically about how this shows up in movement work and how it's such a Capitalist, Patriarchal, White Supremacist, Colonialist & Ableist way of being and working...it's so counter to all we are externally fighting for yet here we are replicating it...

You mentioning this gives me hope, I havent known anyone else but me to recognize this internalized colonialism and capitalism in a social justice space

Thank you for speaking the truth...decolonization is hard work, but it is so gratifying to no longer be in shame as we walk upon our Mother Earth. Still processing how I can be of better service to the collective...currently poised to become a decolonizing therapist, but also wanting to connect deeper with my roots in Eastern medicine/spirituality.

My ancient ancestors are from north eastern and western europe and central europe as well as western asia. But i have no idea how to begin to connect to these ancient lineages as their cultures and practices are mostly lost to time. I feel spiritually lost and have felt this way for many years.

Psychology and psychotherapy are Eurocentric. I don’t feel it’s culturally appropriate for most people, and in fact it goes against many non Western cultural values. It’s tough when it’s presented as the only option to alleviate suffering (and pharmaceuticals too). Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. You continue to support my decolonization process and empower the reconnection with my ancient pre-colonial Celtic ancestors, which helps me serve my therapy clients, and the broader collective that much better. As my partner who’s part Lakota has shared with me: Mitakuye Oyasin. It means, all our relations, or all is interrelated. ❤

I'm so grateful for you and your work. I've felt this way about psychological disorders nearly my entire adult life. It boggles me how people can point the finger at the individual rather than the society, or environment, that the individual grew within... If a tree becomes diseased, the farmer doesn't look to the leaves, twigs, and branches to find the answers, often times, the answers and remedies are found within the soil. The farmer looks to the quality of the water, food, air, soil, temperature, etc... Agyamanak (thank you). I look forward to continuing to learn from you.

My moms name is Rozalja. She is no longer here in Body. I've had many experiences ever since my childhood in relation to the spirits amongst us. Recently I had a wonderful conversation with a man and his wife. When I asked him questions in relation to the beaded necklaces he was wearing he opened up even further. Before he left he told me that my Ancestors are all around me. It really warmed my heart that he felt comfortable confiding this to me. It is a pleasure meeting you here. You are very nice to be sharing your knowledge so others can find themselves during these days of confusion. Have a blessed day 🙏 ✨️

Thank you, Yes we need to go beyond. I love this we ALL come from people who had a connection to the land and the cosmos. Time to remember this connection. I am about to do some anti-racism workshop this weekend and I am glad I watched this video. I understand this work is necessary and excited to look at how the colonizer has labelled and categorized us according to their ways.
