Absolutely, there is no input on how to breath with W. Hof, AO techniques are less aggressive and far more stabilizing.

great questions, very simply how you feel is a good indicator, and how you perform the following training session... but if you want something more quantitative then tracking resting heart rate, respiratory rate at rest and BOLT score are good measures to track, as well as HRV if you have wearable tech. Glad you enjoyed the episode, i loved it too!

Its incredible that at 35 im just learning how to literally have my tongue in my mouth. Everything is making sense.... 2 of my bottom teeth in the front are misaligned which i am now assuming to be because i constantly had my tongue too low for years and im going to assume the reason i tend to only have good air flow out of one of my nostrils is because my tongue has been too low 🤯

I felt your raw emotions! I was training for a 26.3 mile hike (14wk training turned into 2yrs because of covid). Anyway I ended up getting bronchitis after a 16 mile hike. I was so devastated that I could only do 4 miles during the hike day! Since then, I've been diagnosed with acute bronchitis. I've been feeling just like you mentioned in this video. You've given me hope! TY!

I have practiced Wim Hof methods and am an OA Advanced instructor so the physiology of OA I understand. The one thing I still can't understand with regards to the numbers from the Wim Hof experiment is that if each round of breath retention starts at a lower level of CO2, based on the Oxyhaemoglobin Dissociation Curve it would be expected that less O2 would be released from the blood (to cells) and therefore SpO2 would remain high (not dramatically drop). Maybe i've just missed something - any clarity on that would be great, thank you.
@Jacko-Breathwork
@Jacko-Breathwork 2 ай бұрын
Great question... yes during the retention the CO2 is less at the start of each round, but as you hold your breath CO2 accumulates in the lungs and blood and the Bohr effect will still take place. Oxygen is going to leave the blood gradually more as the CO2 accumulates more during the retention phase. As you are holding the breath, no 'new' O2 is coming into the blood so we see a drop in SpO2. As the CO2 levels at the start of each round get progressively lower, it takes longer and longer for CO2 to rise to the point of triggering breathing and therefore the retention (breath-hold) length becomes longer each round... the longer retentions results in gradually greater drops in O2. Does that make more sense?

Question: When practicing WHM aren’t you consciously creating a situation similar to a panic state so you can get used to the sensation and thereby having the ability to relax into it rather than freaking out? Similar to what is felt in the Ice Baths. Please advise…

Excellent video. I learned a lot. I’m a big fan of the OA and it has helped me a lot with long endurance events on the bike and with triathlons. One question re breath holds, can you explain in layman’s terms what happens to the spleen as blood oxygen levels drop to low levels (say 50-60% as with WH method); and can this adversely impact your spleen, or is it dangerous in any way? (I appreciate that with OA blood oxygen levels don’t fall too much as you explained in the video). Thank you.
