Don't know exactly. Several years but not that many. Being retired gives more time to spend on it.

It is not a bad thing to own a mouse gun or two...we're seniors, and find small, lightweight, low recoil to be attractive, we become more prone to actually carry the gun...the .45 in the safe doesn't get carried, go figure...

The more pronounced rim on the.22lr is harder to stack than even the slightly rimmed .25 ACP. The Beretta Minx in .22 short holds 6 rounds where the Jetfire in .25 ACP holds 8 rounds. The frame on both pistols are identical.
@kriseckhardt51482 күн бұрын
Once again i say awesome job! I have had to make my own magazines for pistols before. It is definitely a labor of love but it is certainly possible. I know that you most likely would want an original or new replacement but if you want the pistol to function it is a good skill to have. Cheers.
@kriseckhardt51482 күн бұрын
Could a "block" be inserted into the magazine shortening it plus provide a feed ramp like the Beretta 950 Minx in 22 short so it could run .22 short? With my 950B pistols I found that the frames are identical despite caliber. It is the magazine, slide and barrel that determine model and caliber.

I have seen a couple of those in auctions but never tried to track them down. I believe Excam was in Miami where FIE was also located, although FIE assembled the guns in their plant in Maryland. I wonder if they worked out a deal with FIE, or if maybe they imported parts directly from Astra and assembled the guns themselves. I'll try to find more information.

Aren't 9mm and .380s modern mouse guns?
@mousegunguy25374 күн бұрын

There are some small firearms chambered in .380 and 9mm...the problem is asymmetrical...small and lightweight produce heavy recoil in those calibers, a genuine explosion in your hand...the gun is painful to practice with, and eventually not carried...going bigger and heavier to combat that throws out concealability, a primary selling point of mouse guns...you can't have it both ways...

Every gun ever made was made to fit a niche in the market. Ever since pistols were invented small, concealable handguns had an eager market to scarf them up. Why? For self -defense pure and simple. No telling how many lives have been saved because of these small pistols/revolvers/derringers. Too many internet "experts" sneer at the so-called "anemic" rounds they shoot. My 34 years as a big city cop can attest to their effectiveness.

@@mousegunguy2537 Thanks for getting back! WOW, you have two!? I really hate to tell you this, but that nickel is not original. You can tell by the wash over of the sharp edges that it was improperly prepped before planting. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I always hate pointing these things out, but one needs to know. Anyway, I see that you're missing the medallions on your left hand grips. I have one left hand grip with the medallion, and need a righty to make mine all original. Though I made some very nice cherry ones to suffice. Would you know where I might find a right hand grip? That would be awesome! Also, I obviously didn't see this vid in your list when I looked, so thank you for the link. PS I'm willing to trade my wood grips for the one that I want if anyone is interested. Thanks again.
@mousegunguy25375 күн бұрын
@@jacksutherland846 Original or not, the nickel still looks good. As for the grips, I am not sure that both were originally colored. They are exactly the same except for the color. At first I thought the color had robbed off due to holster wear, but I have seen many more that have one plain, usually the left grip, and the other colored.
