One version of the story suggests a Stoker from beneath decks - who had been shovelling coal until the last second - had come up to find a life jacket. The two radio operators knock him out and left him there. This is a horrible story if true. The Stoker had bean providing the electricity the radio operators had been using. This version is often presented as a class morality tale which sees the heroic middle class radio operators deal with a criminal acting working class man. Unjust, to say the least, even if all else was lost. British people are trained to act with decorum at all times - express grace under pressure. Afterall, it is our behaviour that others remember.

Violet Jessop was an incredibly lucky woman who survived the sinkings of the Titanic and the Britannic as well as a major accident on the Olympic.

It’s also interesting to mention that the britisch Gross Registered Ton (GRT), Titanic being close to 45.000BRT, isn’t a measurement of weight but of available enclosed deck space. It’s the Enclosed promenade deck and the added first class rooms behind them (unlike Olympics open promenade deck for walking) and also the Cafe Paresian that made titanic „bigger” Even more interestingly, the Board of Trade ruled that a ship has lifeboats according to its weight, but that hasn’t been updated for 20+ years by the time Titanic came. The rule was „any ship exceeding 10.000BRT has to carry no less than 16 lifeboats“. You can really see how technology jumped here, with a 45.000 ton ship not being even imaginable just 20 years earlier

I am a retired maritime historian, well of course we never truly retire. Back in my day we didn’t have sites like titanic honor and glory. It’s amazing to see it in true color, magnificent vessel the titanic. I have an idea for you to perhaps collaborate others to recreate. That is the sound of the big brass steam whistles. They pulled one from the wreck, in a set of 3, massive in size. I believe there were a set on each working funnel but I am not sure as I have never researched this. They recreated the sound but I am certain it would sound different on the ship, especially with all 3 blowing at once. I think some young buck needs to give us the authentic voice of this majestic ship. Anyone old enough to hear steam whistles in real life bellowing from a large liner knows the sheer power and authority they have is really something to hear. It really creates the ambiance of that age of coal and steam power. At the very least a video on this topic is a great idea, I have not seen anything of any substance on this topic. Hope you take this idea to heart from one old historian to another.

1:23:00 I literally just saw today they raised the DDeck Door and have it on display?! That might be one of the most significant artifacts considering the quantifiable toll having that door open had on the sinking! Idk how I’m so far behind the times but this is why these educational videos you’ve done are so fascinating! To truly understand the significance of a thing or event!

Yes, when the Carl D. Bradley's stern sank underwater, the funnel did indeed start shooting fire, when the freighter broke in two, As the stern section of the ship went down, the smokestack, emitted flames. This was likely due to the engine room and other machinery still operating as the ship was sinking, igniting any remaining fuel or oil. It was a terrifying sight for the crew, many of whom were lost in the disaster.

The green grand staircase was originally planned for Britannic. There are lithos that survive with the famed organ that was destined for the ship. But of course Britannic was lost in WW1.

Going for a speed record is not the point. Going at their regular speed--far, far too fast for conditions--is what Ismay and Captain Smith did that caused them to crash into an iceberg in an icefield with hundreds of huge icebergs at night. It's like Captain Smith, in severe icy conditions
