It's always amazing that you have a love for making those historic engines live again . I hope your son carries your legacy on. My son is throwing away the stuff I wanted to make run and like new again. He says I will never be able to work on it and it needs to go. I started my KZbin channel on how to repair stuff so others could learn from my knowledge but my stroke took it all away and my son don't care .

Thanks for the update! Oscillating engine: Take 2 pipe sections that nearly slip fit, bore one smooth and hone, turn down the other for a good fit, add a couple grooves for seals (oring or Teflon). Thread the side going to the engine, hard mount the other so it aligns nicely with the bore so it can’t blow out under pressure and pipe off to your exhaust. Alternatively bore the exhaust port and use a pipe turned, grooved, sealed to fit. Grease cup to lube it now & again, but most likely the oil in the exhaust will keep it lubed.

So many people lack your level of understanding and reject perfectly useable components when they work on a piece of machinery. It was so gratifying to see your "Civil War era" engine running so well having only had the bare minimum of work done, anthough there was a great deal of that. Most people would have passed it by. Exactly the same observations apply to your oscillating engine. Just brilliant, restrained, workmanship.

G’day from Brisbane Queensland Australia, wow love you work 160 year old engine saved for another 100 plus years. When I worked at Eveleigh Locomotive Workshops in Sydney there was old machines that were originally belt driven off similar steam machines much like yours. But had been converted to electric power. And it reminds me of an old fella that was called Emu. Who Wass a gasket and canvas belt maker tradesman. The last in Australia and that was almost 48 years ago and was highly skilled in both. Make any type of gasket cork, steel copper all by hand or any canvas and in some cases vulcanised rubber belts. Such skill that would more than likely helped you with the repairs and then there were old boilermakers and steam fitters that knew more about steam and associated equipment and could diagnose and repair blind folded. Anyway I’m waffling on and will just say look up Eveleigh Railways Workshops Redfern Sydney and you will see some nice old photos. Anyway all the best love your videos and again love you work.👀👏👍😊
