The few arguments you brought forward have nothing to do with his criticism, you seem to think he's saying that the imperium is "the" bad guys, while he clearly states multiple times that there are no good guys in the whole 40k universe, everyone is bad, the issue with the videogame is precisely that they portray the imperium as the good guys, deliberately leaving out all the atrocities they commit, because players would rather kill thousands of bugs rather than women and children from other worlds. The whole point of 40k is that there is no good vs evil, there is something good about every faction, but they are all mostly terrible, and that's the fun of it. What you also don't seem to grasp is that he's not criticising 40k as a whole, and he's especially not critical of the more savvy hobbyists like yourself, he explicitly says that if you are knowledgeable about the lore you know about all the things that are missing from the game, and the latter is the issue, since hundreds of thousands of people have never read a piece of lore outside the videogame, as it brought loads of new fans, they are being shown an image of the imperium that is righteous and badass, as opposed to its obviously fucked up nature that is apparent from the lore.
