They were one of the first bands to experiment with electronic synths just as they were coming out. There was one scene in Pompei where Waters is messing with an experimental synth in the studio with Wright.

One of the greatest drummer who has ever lived, Phil Collins is one of the 3 people to have sold over 100 ,Illinois albums in his career. He wrote this song Afters very bitter betrayal and divorce from his first wife. She was a fool, lol. I’m a 63 yr old grandma from Indiana and music today has nothing on the music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. No auto tune and real vocal talent were required!

Freddie was a super private person, all through his music career, he hated letting outside people into his real life, especially the press. And for his family reasons, and the bands, he kept his diagnosis secret. He only told the band maybe ywo years before he passed, and onky said he was terminal, that “they knew” but he didn’t want to talk about it, just work until he “f***ing died”. He never asked for sympathy or complained, and he went through yell. His last video was a goodbye to us, in essence, These Are The Days of Our Lives, and another was his next to last, I’m going Slightly Mad. They showed his raw courage and his overwhelming love for the fans of Queen. I cry whenever I picture those paparazzi shots of him coming out if the doctors office, which drove him to stop going, and those last few appearances to accept awards. Lover if Life, Singer of Songs-- reduced to such a frail state. He was even going blind by the very end. His whole foot was a raw wound from one of those carcinomas AIDS used to give people. So sad. He was the picture of LIFE … sad to die that way. And too soon.

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend and I at the time loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.

So in the beginning it’s Gary Rossington on slide. The main lead at the end is Allen Collins, who by the way wrote most of the rhythm and lead to this song when he was 17! If you listen close you can hear double Leads at the end. That is both guitarists.

We all have soul. Some need to dig a little deeper. This is before Auto-Tune. The song is about an incarcerated individual writing to his love, asking her to stay with him and their love just a little bit longer. The song was written and sang in the 1960s, but still rang true in 2024. Music transcends

One of the best Orwellian anti-establishment songs ever, by one of the most advanced bands ever. The lyrics say it best - "Where have you been? That's alright, _we know where you've been."_ 'What did you dream? That's alright, _we told you what to dream."_ The 'synths' hold up to this day. d(-_-)b

The album "Wish You Were Here" was dedicated to the original founder of the band, Syd Barrett. Barrett got messed up on acid and totally lost it and they replaced him with David Gilmour. To get the full measure of the recording you have to listen to the recording end to end. BTW, at the end of Welcome To the Machine where it sounds like he's in a bar you can faintly hearing people saying "hey Syd" in the background. You have to listen carefully. Glad you guys liked it!!
