All those musicians, over all those years, who helped Zappa perform these highly sophisticated and hard-to-play compositions deserves the highest acclaim!

I watched this entire movie on VHS in the 1980s with my then 14-year-old girlfriend(now my wife). I was mesmerized by it, but she voiced it was perversely insane and one would have to be on drugs to enjoy it. She still holds that opinion today whenever Baby Snakes isbrought up.

This is great. I’m just an amateur musician, but I’d say his singing range is superb here.

That Q-ed flanger-like tone Frank gets on his Lez Pawl makes it my favourite guitar tone ever!!

Zappa makes total mess of this ,when he literally intrudes with his monotone vocals. He should have left Adrian continue, as he was absolutely killing it. Great number created and ruined by FZ

is that date accurate? Sheik Yerbouti came out in '79. I don't remember this being on any earlier album, but if anyone else can set the record straight please do. Awewome performance in any case. Adrian Belew still killing it in 2024 with Beat, can't wait to see this show.

It was recorded live in concert in 1977 and 1978 but mixed and overdubbed to sound like a studio album

Crazy to think that Adrian Belew was playing the bar scene for a shitty cover band in Nashville early in the year (1977) before this...
