Yeah this is my kind of fetish. I swear by the Trangia. Overall its the winner for me. Ability to store fuel and very short time to prime it is so good. And of course it goes well with the whole cooking kits which conveniently also all fits together as one package for easy packing and transportation. Great video. Thanks.

Imo the F10 Nexus UL2 will withstand anything. The Radon UL1 has a major flaw with that single pole stake design. They do a Radon UL2 which I'm assuming it wouldn't have the single pole stake design. Haven't seen one though.

I have found over the five decades that you should just keep it simple. This is not rocket science...just light the darn stove and put a pot on. Watching for a "bloom" is wasted effort and find that perhaps a better approach is to a faster boil is to adjust the burner to pot distance, experiment with different fuels or even a different diameter pot. The entire concept of a "bloom" or "prime" concerning a alcohol burner is a relative recent phenomena and is kept alive by all the experts on KZbin. Your boil times will tell you all you need to know. You either get a quick boil...or not. Also, try not to jump on the Trangia bandwagon as there have ALWAY been better alcohol burners than a Trangia. No thanks. There are just too many better choices out there. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the video. I absolutely get how you were feeling, well done for just saying "stuff it" and going out when you didnt feel like it. Interesting coffee machine, I love a quality coffee but the difference between a sachet and messing around with all that gear just doesnt feel worth it for me. Camera - it looks fantastic footage, but is it worth all the extra money, weight and bulk? Kepp them coming, I love your vids mate!

Thanks so much for the comment. Yeah it's easier to stay at home and I'll be honest, getting bout is a struggle when you're not in the mindset. it's worth it when you're there thou. Getting there can be the issue. Regarding the camera. Yep it is heavier. But it's around the same weight as the drone and all the batteries etc. After seeing the footage I'm hooked. And this was only recording in HD, not 4k. Appreciate the comment and support. Mean that.

That was a great review. As I watched I put very cold water to boil for a mug of tea using the Trangia mini and my boil was just under 4 minutes from first lighting. With the build quality, the ability to store fuel and the speed, I’m staying with Trangia but the xboil is a definite contender for me…. Maybe 😅

One thing no one ever covers, which we could do ourselves, but it would have made the test complete, is how much capacity does each one have, or more to the point, when they’re full, how long will each last. I have in the past tried to make a meal, and the darn things run out during the cooking. Knowing this, along with all your tests would have been really valuable, but no one ever does that! 😢 As for my personal experience, I had a few before I got a trangia. They took so long to bloom, and or blew out with the slightest breeze. So I was so impressed with how it just got angry when there was a breeze. I really like it. Especially since you can control the flame a bit with the simmer ring. I’m impressed with that xboil though. I’ll have to make one for when all I’m gonna do is boil some water to rehydrate, or a cup of tea or something.

I've been using mfs's for uh maybe twenty years from many brands like Primus, Optimus and Soto so I do consider my self as a semi experienced user. My initial thought was that you have too much fuel for priming. It overflows the cup and absorbing material (which is definetly not cotton but rather some mineral fibers or so) and then fuel is burning all over the burner. I might be wrong, there might also be something wrong with the unit but I would recommend to test with shorter periods opening the valve before priming. You could also try priming with alcohol, just carefully pour or inject it on top of the silencer and see if it is landing on the absorbing mat. Alcohol gives soot free priming process.

Oh no I hope Vango isn't moving towards inner-pitch-first tents. The reason I tend to prefer northern European tents compared to US ones is that they are more often outer-pitch-first. Inner-first tents are an unholy pain to pitch and take down in the pouring/driving rain.

Poor venting with high bathtub, you could have serious condensation. No guidelines limits where you can use the tent and the fact that you are already thinking of swopping out pegs to ensure it doesn't blow away gives it a few issues. Will be interesting the rain and wind test. You looked a bit perplexed by the design😂.

Very good first impression video, as it's a military tent intended for civilians as a stealth shelter (camo colour )it's primarily targeting bushcrafters, the main area of use would be in the woods/ forest so no need for guy lines as the trees act like a windbreaker. Nice dancing in the tent when giving the measurements👍
