The bridge saddles looked like they were growing moss! Good greif.

Nice vid! And the endeavor to persevere...Seems too many variables involved for there to be any 'perfect' solution. What with personal preferences, dynamics of organic material etc. Kinda like 'intonation' itself, wherein there is no perfectly tuned guitar....endeavor to persevere. How about monolithic inorganic stable necks?...post 2112!

I have a black ‘75 with white pickguard. The poly is checking only on the back of the guitar. I’m guessing it’s a reaction to hundreds of hours against sweaty and warm bodies.

The bubbles appear because dtf prints are like thin foil and the heat needs a way to exit. There is uv-dtf specially for slick non breathing surfaces. They are similar to stickers but embossed.

Skateboards are sublimated. They have a poly coating on the wood so sublimate will work. Would work with guitar too, but need a vacuum chamber to get around the corners

Mark, thankyou for this in depth review, saved me some money for sure. Been considering buying the Veyz unit for a while, but was hesitant. Sustainiac have a dealer here in the UK, so I'll put up the extra cash and get the real thing,

I have not epoxied printed parts yet but I have used CA glue and I can vouch for how strong it is. I had to separate a few pieces about a month ago, and the glue held so tight that in some areas the plastic ripped little chunks out of the adjacent piece. The glue joints were stronger than the material itself.

Really digging everything about this. I'm working on a guitar print right now that has a hollow space for a wooden core in the middle where the neck, pickups and bridge mount so its basically printed wings. The printed part is essentially aesthetic. I'm just not convinced on the long term stability of ABS or PLA continually holding a hundred pounds of string tension. I've done guitars out of wood in my garage and I can say making one 3d printed is just as challenging.

Loved this video. I've always thought Muff type circuits sound muddy, and there's a bit of that in this one, but it's also one of the better muff types. I love the look of the laser work. This video really made me want to drop the money on a laser. We live in a golden age. The possibilities are endless.

Mark this is AWESOME please do more. Do what you want, the transparent stuff but if you could do something like a picture of Spider-Man or like a Pirate Map or Lord Of The Rings that would be really cool

Looks great! Instead of a DTF medium, how about a vinyl film? Ya know, like the wraps they place on work trucks to advertise their business? I think the application would be easier - as opposed to finicky heat/pressure settings - and the result will be much more scratch resistant.

It's funny cause i would have easily seconded every single word you pronoucend one week ago, but unfortunaltely for me, one of these "roasted" mpale neck broke suddenly as i tried 11-52 gauge strings, once broken, i could see the fibers of the wood and i'm pretty certain this was never maple, it was a very light wood, the whole neck was hardly 500 grams (without tuners), this said of course, the seller never replied to my messages, so money lost absolutely but yey, i'm ready to try the experience again cause pricewise, it's unbeatalbe and i'll stick to 10-46 max

ive seen quite of these mk.gee guitar tone videos but i havent seen anyone mention the roland vg-8ex he uses for some of his synth sounds, which personally i think sounds amazing. unfortunately it seems to be quite rare and all the ones ive seen online are going for over 1000 dollars

You must be on the same energy wave as me Mark. I've been wearing Mike Gordon's music out for the past month... mainly his Mk.gee project, but also his stuff with Dijon. It's so nice to see someone develop a distinct sound of their own. The craziest (most unique) piece of his signal chain (to me) is the Tascam at the end. Thank you for sharing this, learned a couple tricks as you explained the patching.

perhaps not surprising but sounds a bit like an helicopter. compared to traditional sustainers it seems delivering stronger bass sounds. I admire this construction but the motor will consume a ton of energy compared to a pure magnetic feedback sustainer. I share here my crazy idea... all sustainers i have seen work with magnetic field so only with metal strings... but in theory it should be possible to excite the string mechanically... with some sort of speaker. Just like magnetic pickups work both ways, piezo micros can also be used in reverse as speakers.
