The Mexican progressive left is not the same as American liberal progressivism. The progressive left in Mexico is more focused on the conquest of social rights and the creation of a welfare state, while the Mexican right is more inclined to neoliberalism and pro-corporation, something that Mexico was subjected to for more than 30 years. It doesn’t matter if you vote for the right or left, Mexico is a family oriented country; despite Mexico is catholic country, is a secular state, there is freedom of worship and individual freedoms, the latter means that it guarantees sexual diversity rights, but is not like in the U.S with the woke movement or promoting from the government gender ideology. Currently Mexico is still governed by a leftist government that is from the same political party of former President López Obrador.

Welcome to Mexico 🇲🇽 friends, I love to see that we have more things in common than differences, totally agree with her: I hate big media , all of them, their only goal is just to make us all feel miserable. Here in Mexico we also have big media companies doing the same, but fortunately there is also a huge offer of citizen media via KZbin and state channels, with huge ratings! Wow, thanks for sharing this. I have so may thoughts about this but the more I think about it the least I am able to articulate it. But I am glad to hear that as always, the extreme circumstances portrayed in the media and social media are not the reality of regular, down to earth people. I happen to have a friend from Spain, which is a country that leans very far left. Sometimes I see videos in which it seems the situation over there is dire. But talking to that friend, he tells me that it's the same for them, people go about their business, they work and they have fun, they vote and then they get back to their lives.
@GringosRUs

The same could be said for the US if everyone tuned out the medias. Yes, medias, both social and main stream. If they talked to each other and listened to the responses, they would find that there is so much that they share. But alas, it is now easier to pull back into our collective shells and just avoid any contact with others. It is a road that leads to bad things. It is so different down here, they voted and then were back to their everyday lives as you stated. It is so nice and so warm in all of our interactions with the wonderful people here. Glad that you liked it.

It’s so refreshing to hear reasonable, centered, smart, objective and educated people talking about how divided society is becoming in the US, but I would say that’s becoming a worldwide phenomenon, while in México it’s still not as bad, sadly, I do see that polarization has been increasing in the latest years. I believe in great part it’s due to social media, that has become a circus act fight to get the attention of each time more short spanned audiences.

Oh, social media and the internet have changed everything. Some of it is good, but the downside is very dangerous. The instantaneous nature of news cycle that was available here on the web has lead to the key factor became speed over accuracy. Then social media make it so easy to troll others and incite anger over things that would never have been stated in person. I agree that it is a universal issue, but here in Mexico it feels like it is a few decades behind where it is on the other side of the border. And at my age, a few more decades is all I need. LOL, I know, it is a selfish way to look at it, but all we can do is be kind to others and hope that it is contagious. Thanks.

My Husband and I bought a home in Mexico in 2020, yes 2020! We saw a real time video and decided to make an offer. Our Canadian real estate agent helped us out a lot! It was the best thing we have ever done! We visit 2 times a year for now as we have a kid graduating. We have been planning for a long long time! Totally worth it! And yep, we have a lot of friends that say Awesome, but we have a few that you can tell aren't sure it is a good idea! But that's ok! We have been so happy since our purchase! We are taking both kids at the beginning of December for 15 days. It should be amazing! Thanks for all your videos! Enjoy every day!

Sounds like a great opportunity if you don't have a lot of family , relations , etc. in your home country.For those who can do it, it sends great.What kind of $$ / monthly does it take to live comfortably in Mexico?
@GringosRUs
@GringosRUs 2 ай бұрын
@Jim-n5y It really depends on too many factors to say. Some people can live here on $1000/month or less VERY comfortably. Others live in places where it can cost more than $5000/month. Mexican minimum wage is less than 300 pesos or $15 PER DAY. That is only $450 a month. There is a video of citizens being asked in the streets of a large city in Mexico what they thought would be a really good monthly income: $700 a month. I think that video was on La Karencita's channel.

We knew in 2016 we were leaving the U.S. We just had to get our ducks in a row. Pay off our debts. House, car and credit cards and get out. It took us 2 years. I don’t agree with you though that it’s both sides being angry. Only one side is angry and hateful. Even after they won. We settled in an expat community that as it turns out there are very little of the angry people here. The one problem, that lastest for a few months, was a small group of these angry voters that couldn’t go two seconds without bringing up their dear racist leader. They had to get a sit down with the group to tell them that no politics will be spoken when we’re together or they won’t be welcome. I dont agree with being “in the middle”. I’m registered as an independent, but I will not associate with people that discriminate against women and minorities. I will not associate with these kind of people. Whether they are acquaintances, friends, or family. I do agree with you wholeheartedly though, that other than someone asking me who I voted for-- I’m more than glad to answer them, but, then I turn the conversation to other things, like tequila and tacos. lol.
@GringosRUs
@GringosRUs 2 ай бұрын
We have gotten a lot of response on this video and we have had angry people from both sides comment. And we won't even mention the ones that KZbin blocked as being unfit for publication. LOL A lot of people are just tired on both sides of being told that they are wrong. Everybody has a different journey in life and it takes them to the place that they are in when they pull the lever for the candidate of their choosing. Everyone has the right to do what they think is right and we believe, whole heartedly, that each one of them is doing what they feel is correct. That being said, there is vitriol coming from both sides of the aisle and it is only harming the US. We need strong leaders in Congress to do their job and stop posturing for the cameras. There is so much common ground between the American people that if they, Congress, would do their job, it would help to bridge the divide and show a way towards a better future. Unfortunately, both parties, in my opinion, refuse to act on what the people want as they want these issues to campaign on in the next election. Term limits are so overdue and it is also a common ground issue that the vast majority of Americans agree on. And hey, Tacos and tequila? All day long. Thanks

Electing a Black President or A Female doesn’t make Mexico a First World Country please don’t be Ignorant!… to a be a First World Country you’ll need to be First Medicine Technology Infrastructure Creativity Economy And while USA it might be lacking on some Mexico is in No way Near the USA on any of this… Mexico needs All the Money Mexicana send every week as it Plays a Big part ob their Economy.. On Medicine why do you think all Rich mexicans go to the USA for Cancer Treatments, etc, etc.. Why do you think All the Mexicans Rich people have all their money in US Dollars… Electing a President should be base on Experience in a Global world, Skills, Performance.. which Claudia lacks on All 3 ….

You are welcome in Mexico. My question is why do you do it when you are older, why don't you do it when you are young? It would be better to adapt to our culture. But still, you are welcome.

Thank you. 💕 Why not do it when we are younger? When we are younger, we are conditioned to believe that we have the greatest country in the world. Why would you leave the greatest country in the world? But as you age, your values change or mature, you start to see cracks in that facade, and you realized that other countries are not as bad as you've been told. Even today, we are told how dangerous Mexico is, when crime in the US is statistically higher in every major city when you eliminate the areas of high cartel activity. As we age, our obligations also change, the children are on their own, and you start to look at what your life might be on a pension, for example. You have more freedom to travel, and more freedom to try life elsewhere outside of the USA. Also, as you age, you are less likely to tolerate things that you tolerated when you were younger. Your patience gets short. Unhappy angry people get on your nerves! LOL Maybe this explains why a lot of people wait. Thank you for your comment and welcoming us to this beautiful country of amazing people! ~Gina

That is a very good question that has an answer that has many layers. First, the media in the US paints a very unpleasant picture of Mexico. Of course, after spending many vacations here, we found out that they are so wrong and are focusing on isolated incidents and not the country as a whole. Also the US used to be a different country that was more like Mexico in that people cared about one another and there was a sense of community. Then there is the economics of it. When we were young, the earning potential in the US was so much greater than what was available here in Mexico. Of course as we aged, we gained the wisdom to see that money was not everything and that the quality of life here is now so much better. Of course, as the saying goes, better late than never. Thanks for the great question.

oh and I was told not to 'let' anyone know who I voted for when I go to the LATAM expat communities. Very weird, but like sex, I don't share my preferences with aquaintances.

It really isn't anyone's business. Besides, we prefer to practice that what is in a person's heart is a true indication of who they are. Not who they voted for.
