I have a ball, a bci, a brb, and a carpet. My carpet gets a night drop and doesn't get fed from Halloween to Valentines Day. She has a UBV basking bulb that I leave on for 12 hours a day. All my other snakes have a DHP that is on 24/7. It definitely makes sense that most snakes dont need a drop since they live in tropical areas.

I think its almost a tie. I have one of each, and i must admit, my BRB wins, but not by much. Theyre both great eaters and will eat live or ft and they're easy to handle. My brb is older and ive had him for longer, so he's a bit more interactive with me than my bi, but I'm sure once she gets good and settled in, I'll see her more often. But it is really really hard to beat the iridescence of the brb. My bi has some iridescence over all of her body, but her tail is dark colored and VERY iridescent, but my brb shines in almost any light all over his entire body.

Why is there extra yarn/string/garbage in the gaps block? I'm only half way through your video but from the comments it looks like Gap won. But how did it win of there is actual garbage in there? That can't be a good thing. Can someone please explain why the "extra"stuff in it isn't a big deal?
@JasonsExoticReptiles2 күн бұрын
They all have that in there. I’m not sure how it’s sourced, but I’m guessing it has to do with where it’s collected. Could be bottle caps, nails, yarn etc. it’s a small fraction of the material, but it’s in there.
@sarabethsmith20522 күн бұрын
@JasonsExoticReptiles thank you for the reply. But I'm still confused. I use the compressed coco stuff that comes in bricks. I have never found anything in it that shouldn't be in there. It makes me nervous to try any of those brands if they are allowing trash in there, what other things are in there that we don't see. And how are they getting garbage in their final product. I dunno. Just seems wrong to me.

Hopefully we’ll get back to people enjoying reptiles without being encouraged to commercialize the hobby. There are already WAY more animals than there is demand, not to mention quality owners. Too many of these animals are living miserable lives for our entertainment.

I really appreciate a "larger" voice explaining this. I have a lot of respect for how you operate. I have one of your boas and one of your Burms. Lovely animals, happy to add them to my breeders. Sometimes, it takes big names to say such on point information. ❤
@truthseeker65844 күн бұрын
I would like to add some things. Before everything else: Shut all windows in your house IMMEDIATELY. As a new keeper I once found a baby cornsnake on the window sill of an open window. Generally all of my snakes are fascinatid by the smell of "the wild" outside the house. If the house door doesn't shut tightly put a towel under it. Second: Remove all other pets if possible. Dogs and cats find snakes very interesting and can hurt or even kill them (small snakes) Third: Before searching franticall everywhere look around the enclosure first. Sometimes the snake just sits somewhere behind or under the enclosure hiding. If your enclosure is somewhere higher up there is also a good chance that it hasn't climbed down yet to the floor. Forth: After searching the room thoroughly SHUT the door of the room you have already searched. This prevents the snake from crawling in while you search in another room. Fifth: look behind /under your fridge, a fridge emits warmth. Look behind and on top of your warm water boiler in your bathroom and behind it. And look into your toilet.

Great video! I know it has been done before, but I think these are the types of videos we need for newbies to do it right and to make sure that they are considering all the important things before they get started! I can't say I haven't done a couple of these and I really expected that once I started going to shows my babies would fly off the table once I went to a reptile expo (and that didn't happen), but the thing I feel is soooo important is the amount of work that has to be done. You can't call in sick and you have to make sure that you have time and energy in your life for all the critters you take into your care. :-D

Omg this was fabulous! You have such wonderful content. Thank you for posting this one. I am guilty myself right now of purchasing single pairs of everything. I also LIKE everything so it's hard to limit the species I plan on breeding. Right now I'm growing everything up as I am finishing my associates degree, creating my brand, website, and soon a regular youtube channel. Feels great to know I'm on the right track with the marketing stuff.

'This is not a 9-5.. This is a passion and this is a lifestyle'. This is absolutely on point. When folks ask me why do I get 3-4 hrs of sleep a night because I am up until 2-3am tending to my animals, then go to my j.o.b for 12hrs a day.. I say because I love it. My animals bring me a level of peace and balance that most people can't offer, so I can't wait to work with them every day. If this is not the approach, then having them will not work out in anybody's benefit.

Great advice! This is what sets your channel apart from the rest. I Stumbled upon it back in circa 2020, when I was looking for care guides on boas. Most other channels, don't really tell you how to care for the animal, they just show them off. P.S. I'm still waiting for the "I spent the night with my two most aggressive burmese pythons" video.

So I was in the wrong, when I lost a boa back in April when I was yelling "We have an asset out of containment!" All over the house? Now, I'm curious how much groveling and begging it would take to get you to sell one of those hold back Incas.

I think people should be thinking about return on investment with something like breeding reptiles as a return on investment in time, not necessarily in money. Buy something that has a couple of genes you like and a couple of hets you like, And put in the time with those animals, much more likely to pay off that way than be stuck with babies from an ultra expensive snake that nobody else can afford either, But still have to sell for less than you bought the original snake 😅
