It would've been even creepier had it been weathered to look like a scrap engine and if you found a way to make the headlights red
@Geoffrey-we4yo28 күн бұрын
I have this same engine. I upgraded it to soundtraxx, because at the time electric rr co was in it's first shutdown. I agree that the MTH engines look more realistic, but the Lionel Legacy engines sound more realistic. A big point of contetion for me was the whistle and bell effects. The real Blue Comet had a whistle that was described as sounding like a cross between a fog horn and a pipe organ. The MTH whistle was too high pitched, and ordinary. The Legacy Whistle sounds more like that description, and has an authoritative tone, indicating an important train is on the way. Mine now has a Hancock 3 chime, which sounds like the Legacy whistle. And the clarification lamps look great, too. The CNJ didn't use red on the front of the engine. Looks and sounds like the real train. I remember about 25 years ago there was an O scale model kit of the Fanwood, NJ station. The Blue Comet never went through Fanwood, but the building is identical to the Red Bank Station, where The Blue Comet did stop. I haven't seen this kit in a long time, but there might be one on ebay.

Great update showing quite a bit of work done! Your layout is looking great. I'd put a piece of black felt or something similar on the back side of the covered bridge. Looking forward to the town build out and yard work.

Thanks for the kind words! Ya I’ve been debating adding something like that to that bridge. I got some black foam board sitting around I’ll give a try.

Great video Matt! Love the farm, station, and main street scenes! You've made some awesome progress on the layout. So, just curious but what do you have planned for inside the Y area? You might be able to sneak a spur into there off the yard for an industry, caboose track, or engine servicing area. It would certainly add some switching abilities. Thanks for sharing your layout and collection with us! -Ricky

Thanks Ricky! Very happy with how things are coming along so far! I’ve asked myself that same question regarding the Y. I’m thinking of making a yard office mow area and I’m considering a large industrial building and a switch tower at the moment. That space is pretty large so a lot of different possibilities for sure! Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it!
