i think the reason why crate baby doesnt make a sound in gmod is because its connected to the map itself, taking the baby with you to any other maps results in him being silent too

The second port on the left bottom side, between the headphone jack and the USB ports, is a mini displayport so you could get video output from it, if the connector is wired as displayport.

@@TommyThousandFaces Thank you! Also for the record that connector isn't just standard for this unit if it is indeed a display out port, the other two units I had don't have it. Only the main one I featured in the video.

That's super weird but interesting at the same time. The iGPU supports 4K60fps out according to Intel specs so maybe the first model had it, was more expensive and lost it later for more profit margin/cheaper product. I've never seen a miniDP connector wired for anything but video and audio. Maybe you could go over the pinout and see if most pin match the specs.

@@TommyThousandFaces There's a bunch of tiny differences. Only one of the units had that USB on the side, for instance. Some of them have different configurations of USB on the bottom, too.

Quick pointer for anyone wanting to play with one of these yourselves: 1st, to do the power connector mod, you really don't need to open the case up, you can just undo the screws on the connector and pull it out. But if you DO open the case for any reason, be very careful putting it back together again to make sure that you don't accidentally pinch some of the wires between the two case halves. When I was working on mine I also, like Feno, opened my case up. What I found was that someone PRIOR to me had done exactly that, and it had been previously repaired, but at least one of the repaired wires had re-broken. So I was glad I opened it up even though I didn't "need" to, because if I hadn't I wouldn't have discovered that error. Also, I set mine up with Ubuntu but I remember the touchscreen stuff being just as much of a pain. But unlike you, I wasn't documenting everything I did along the way, so I probably wouldn't have been much help there! haha

@@liljohn118th I had to open mine up anyway because the main unit featured in the video didn't have an SSD in it, I took it out of the first one that I got which I failed to actually get running.

@liljohn118th The reason I ended up with three was after I failed to get anything on the screen on the original unit (the one with the giant crack) and decided to try another one, the only other one on ebay at the time was a lot of two, haha. They were asking for $100 but luckily since it had been up for a long time I offered $50 and they accepted. Now I dunno what I'm gonna do with the other two though!

Extra stuff: -I forgot to mention that the motherboard lacks a PCIe slot, so there’s no shot at getting a GPU on this thing. -The resolution is a STUNNING 1024x768. -The device itself gets VERY hot to the touch when under load. At its highest I measured 115°F (43.5°C). -I ruined my favorite cup while soldering and it was a one-time only production, I am absolutely devestated and heartbroken. -The device turning off during gaming didn’t seem to be due to overheating as it would happen even if the device was powered off for a while. Also sometimes games would play for a minute or two before it turned off, other times it would immediately quit on the main menu. My best guess is maybe it’s the limited power draw at just 12v?

possible, maybe the powersupply u soldered to it doesnt deliver enough juice(amps), or the psu inside of it is failing because of age
