Fantastic! I’m sure your efforts yielded great results in both a reduction in heat gain and noise reduction. I plan to do this on my newly acquired ‘71 as well. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and share the process with us. I hope KZbin’s deal nets a financial gain so that you can fund more ‘Vette parts and equipment for filming. Best wishes man!

It's a tedious job. Replaced all my rubber bushings with poly bushings front and back ; including trailing arms camber rods shocks , motor mounts and tranny mount. You get a bit of a stiffer ride and can feel the engine more but less likely to fail with time or oil splatter. Rebuilt my trailing arm bearings years ago. Just keep them serviced. There is a special tool to shove grease into them. You just have to take off the axle. I usually service them every 30k.

@timewiththedurbins 13 күн бұрын
I used a hammer and a bearing driver. It is basically a small plate that fits the bearing race and has a shaft that you hit with the hammer to drive the race in. A regular punch will work too. You just have to be careful that you don't damage the race since bout the punch and race are heat treated.

This video could have been sooooo much better with a verbal explanation of each step, naming the parts, “here’s what I’m doing and why I’m doing it”, etc. He did it a few times, but not enough. Camera guy did a pretty good job for us though. A few things were flying/dropping out of the other sides, off camera, that would be useful to know though. Despite that, as others have said, this is a great/helpful video. Thanks for making it and putting it up for us to see.

I learn something new with every video I make about content and editing. The hardest part of making videos is getting the camera where it needs to be all the time. Sometimes when I am doing a repair, I forget to reset the camera or to explain some of the steps. My goal is to start using multiple cameras and an outline of the process. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I really appreciate them. The only way I can make my channel better is with people telling me where I need to improve and what they want to see.

You should never bolt heads on right out of the box, always have them checked by a reputable machine shop. Regardless of the manufacturer. It’s not just Edelbrock, many high priced heads can have imperfections. It’s easier to do that then have to pull them off and do the job all over again. Good luck

Great video. My mechanic cant get to this for a month or so, so i'm thinking of tackling it. All I need to do is the trailing arm bearing, so mine will be quite a bit simpler. The only thing Im unsure about is having to bleed the brakes on reassembly. Any pointers?

Why do people keep trying to use WD-40 as a penetrant or lubricant? It is neither. Especially when somethings been sitting like that for sometime. He should've put some well-known penetrate in the cylinders and made sure the bike would turn over manually with a wrench on the crank before even tried to start it.
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins Ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments. I meant to crank it over before I tried to start but then I had a brain fart and forgot. The cylinders looked pretty good so I didn't think it would be an issue starting. Live and learn. As far as using WD40, like I said earlier the cylinders were not rusty so I didn't think it would take more than WD40 to loosen up the pistons if they were a little stuck. Again, live and learn.
