Wow yeah, i needed to hear that. My mind also goes all over the place when reading in silence. I don't have the option to read out loud every day, living in a caravan, but I will certainly try that when I get some time alone in there. The same thing happens when I'm praying. I kind of drift off into whatever I was thanking the Lord for and forget that I'm actually praying. And I actually fall asleep too while reading and now even watching videos. I am praying that I get some sort of apartment or home with more than one room so hopefully that will come in one day soon.

Does my conversation with my friend “work”? It does if she hears me and I hear her. The working part is communication. Does God answer prayers (a better question) ? Yes-always. Sometimes the answer is “yes” sometimes “no” sometimes “I have a better idea”

My apologies. I am a bit different on this.. I do not retain information very well when I read out loud. I never have and I do not know why that is. The stories flow better when I read to myself or hear someone else read. Is it my IQ? Why am I so different? My IQ level, tested at a university in a psychology class was 124. I have even wondered if I have some type of autism. I have also felt literally blocked from reading the Bible before. I have had to pray and push past it. What is this blockage?

If you don’t enjoy the Bible then you may want to question your faith. God says to love God with all your heart, those who don’t love the father doesn’t love the word.

This is sooo good! How can I say that I love the Lord with my whole heart, but very seldom read about the author. Years ago, it took me about 50 minutes driving one way to work. Eventually I started listening to Bible on cd's, too and from work, every day. After a few years, I actually listened to the complete Bible 40 times. Not as good as actually reading but loved it.

Wow! Very harsh comments! Almost legalistic mindset.. cultish even. “You can’t find joy in God’s Word! It’s not meant for that” “You can’t trick people into understanding scripture” I’m really glad you addressed these because there could be new believers viewing those comments and getting confused. May God soften their hearts🩵

The two criticisms are interesting. The first argues that one cannot understand the Bible, but it would take a degree of understanding to reach that conclusion. It's circular reasoning. Aside from that, if I could find one human who understands the Bible, her argument would prove false. Peter, John, Paul, and Isaiah are all recipients of Divine mysteries and so they understand the Bible. It's a curious comment. In the second comment it seems as if the word ENJOYMENT needs to be defined. The commenter seems to use enjoyment as a synonym for entertainment. Keith uses enjoyment more in line with appreciation, awe, and wonder. I suspect Keith and the commenter are closer than they think.

I've always been a reader. My mother used to tell me that she would find me on the pot at 3 yrs old, just like my Dad, with a book in my hands. The book was invariably upside down but by God I was reading! I've always had a good imagination and never had any problem imagining scenes in what I was reading. Until I started to read the Bible. What a chore! How boring! You've given me something to think about and do that I suspect will change everything for me. Thank you and God Bless!

Love this! So true. I have been writing out scripture since last year and I am in Romans now. I can’t even explain how God is changing me. It is hard sometimes because He is showing me my wretchedness but He also blesses me too. He is amazing. Taking more time actually in His word has blown those devotionals out of the water! I’m not saying they aren’t good but neglecting the actual Scriptures is where we fall short I think. The devotionals are really a side-dish, not the main course, right? You don’t know that until you really sit down, slow down and write out each and every word. (I also say the words out loud so remember to be able to get it on paper.) It is incredible. Now when I spend more than 10 minutes, you are spot on, I get so much out of it, I feel like I’m there. He speaks to me in it, but on days I’ve rushed through, not so much. Thanks for sharing and educating folks. This is probably the hardest habit to get folks to understand. You have an immense mountain to climb, brother. I will pray you affect the world for good. God bless! ❤

LOVE this. I have been doing with my kids for a couple of decades now. As a young homeschooling momma, I made it a goal to read the Bible OUT LOUD with each of my (many!) kids at least once. With my theatrical bent, I can't help but read with feelings. Ha. So that you can be encouraged that people really do this, I am including a link to a couple of my kids and me reading Genesis 1-3. I recorded this for some friends in preparation for a Bible study. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y32VnIOhgpane6csi=eMSsqq8MpFqQD5Lk

I absolutely agree with you. For me prayer is a way to get closer to God. He does answer prayers in his time and way. I believe that no prayer goes unanswered but some are answered in different ways. Sometimes what we need are “unanswered prayers” but we don’t realize it.

Reading out loud really does help me as well. I will often Tab read in a different dialect or accent because then it sounds like it’s a different person other than myself speaking to me that I have to really focus on listening to. It also helps to do impersonations.

I've got really bad ADD. I learned a long time ago that if I couldn't focus on what I was reading, to read it out loud. It wasn't conscious. As a matter of fact, I haven't realized, until now, that I was even doing it. But I have, for decades. Thank you for this bible hack. It will help, I'm sure. I know these things are true from experience. I also have cognitive disorder and learning disorders (math/reading) and I've overcome them on my own by submerging myself into material I didn't understand, for 15 min at a time, which is all my ADD brain can handle. Constantly doing this, and being lost in the subject matter, I will at some point have a light bulb moment because I'll finally connect the material with something else that parallels the concept. I appreciate this video. The bible is my last frontier in learning!

Absolutely agree with all you said in this video. I enjoyed my reading more when I read out loud and I have done so since the last few years. It helps to cut off distractions and increase focus. Make reading much more enjoyable and improve my reading confidence too. Also agree with you on reading time length. It takes about 10 minutes as well for me to be able to immerse into my reading and reading out loud have helped my a lot. Do you have any hacks for memorizing by chapter? I would love to do it more systematically and increase my capacity & retention? Thanks.

You are wrong you are deadly wrong. The Bible is clear that you cannot intellectually understand the Bible with your brain, God is spirit. His word is spirit, and is only spiritually understood unless you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you to interpret the Bible to you,!when you read it, you will never know the word of God you can’t trick your brain or make a new pattern in your brain to understand the word of God. You obviously don’t know the word of God. Teachers of the word have a more strict judgment awaiting them. Good luck on judgment day.
@keithferrin16 сағат бұрын
So let me get this straight, your brain can't help you LISTEN to the Holy Spirit better? What is "loving God with your mind?" We need the Holy Spirit for sure! 100%. We also need to use our brains to think and listen. God created our brains after all!

Why did God say not by might nor by power but by my spirit? ``Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.'' This is not a calling to follow God or changing our ways to fit His ways, for that implies that if I first change my ways, then God will respond. He is already responding, He is just waiting for us to fall in line--to surrender. OUR SUBMISSION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL GIVE US THE UNDERSTANDING AND THE ABILITY TO REMEMBER HIS WORD AND INSTRUCTIONS NOT OUR WORKS THAT ANY SHOULD BOAST....ONLY HIS WAY NOT OUR OR ANY OTHER MAN AMEIN AND AMEIN HALLELUYAH MARANATHA LORD SAVIOUR CHRIST

The Bible says: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”- 1st Corinthians 2:14 ASV WE MUST SPIRITUALLY DISCERN THE BIBLE BY HIS SPIRIT. NOT BY A BRAIN HACK/TRICK.

Are you saying that your brain can't help you LISTEN to the Holy Spirit better? What is "loving God with your mind?" We need the Holy Spirit for sure! 100%. We also need to use our brains to think and listen. God created our brains after all! Because you're talking about "discernment" (massively important) and this video is about "enjoyment, (also important), it seems like you didn't actually watch it.

I've always been a Bible reader starting with The Children's Bible as a kid. I had a question about a verse for years until one day I called a minister and as I asked the question, I instantly understood and had the answer! It's as if hearing the words in my ears unlocked something. Which confirms that "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ." Romans 10:17 I also had a friend text me to read certain chapters in the new testament (that I hadn't read in years). I did and immediately went into a panic that my current beliefs were wrong regarding Grace vs the Law UNTIL I continued reading past those chapters and - WHEW! So now I advise newbie Christians to read an entire new testament book in one sitting. I explain that it's a letter. You wouldn't read only part of a letter from a friend but you would read the entire thing in one sitting. Only after reading the entire letter (epistle) then it's okay to dissect and study portions of it. Thanks for this video. It reminded me about the power of hearing - even if it's my own voice - reading Scripture out loud. I'm currently doing a Bible in a year program and I'll continue by reading out loud. 👍🏼
