Im a first time parent, and i never knew screen time was a bad thing intell my son turn 1yr old. Now carry this guilt and shame feeling like im the worst mom and i wish i had someone to tell me about this. Now im trying to not let have screen time as much and make it less time. But im currently pregnant and my bf is working so its hard to having to do stuff while im not there for my son while i clean/ cook/ or take a rest for myself for abit. I read, i draw with him, and i play also go outside with him. I really try my best, and wanna help my son development. I need advice on how i can help my son development.. he knows how do certain things that my doctors is surprised abt. But i make mistakes on my anger and stress, i yell not to do this and that. But im working on talking towards him while he can't because of this and that and why he shouldn't.. and i make mistakes on letting him watch videos while i rest or cook, what should i do instead of letting watch videos? And what should i do if i didnt let him watch his videos but he starts crying or yelling?...

I’m so sorry you feel this way! I hope you can give yourself some grace and kindness - none of us know what we don’t know! We are all learning & figuring this whole parenting thing out as we go! Now that you know it might not be positive for your son to have so much screen time - you can take action- that’s the best we all can hope to do as parents; especially when we learn something new ❤️ it will be hard at first for your son if he is used to screen time (being upset, yelling, expressing himself with big emotions is all normal response to his routine changing- allowing him a safe space to be able to express himself but staying firm in boundaries like “we can be upset but we don’t hit etc” or “I understand how frustrating and different it is not being able to watch __ right now, it’s ok to cry, I’m here, I love you let’s play with ___ instead” or “do you want to play ___ or ___?” ) Start by cutting back a little by little if doing an “all at once change” and cutting screen time all together seems to be too much for either of you! Just think the less screen time he gets in the daythe better. There will always be situations where maybe you or he are sick and it may feel needed. Some days as parents we are in survival mode and it can be a useful tool. We just have to try and stay mindful. It’s really about minimizing the amount of screen time. Coloring with him, talking to him, reading to him, playing with toys with him are all wonderful things to do but they require your time and attention and we all have different capacities for this for many reasons! I get it! Just try to do the best you can do each day- remind yourself/know that each day is a new day and a new opportunity to make a positive change or to try to do a little bit better than the day before. None of us have it all figured out and none of us are perfect. You are doing an amazing job!!!🫶

I’ve noticed that you often mention the mother or other individuals in your discussions, but rarely the father. This observation makes me curious as to why the father’s role seems to be overlooked. Numerous studies highlight the significant negative impact on babies who lack a father figure. Fathers play a crucial role in a child’s development, and it’s important to recognize their contributions.

Thank you for all your suggestion. I love the love every but I can't really afford that $80 every time and then $120 when they become a toddler. It's just too much money for me but I will say I have a 28-year-old and a 20-year-old. My 20-year-old had problems walking and holding a rattler with both hands but when he got 2 years old he was able to button his own shirt. So whatever they cannot do right now or at 6 months at 2 year and he learn how to button his shirt and put on his pants and go to the bathroom on his own. He learned that very fast but walking. I had to help him with that and I had to just let him fall in the grass when he fell. I didn't say anything and by the third day he can walk on his own

I can totally understand the downside to the reoccurring expense of them and just how expensive everything has become in general! There are lots of similar items to the ones they have in toy kits that you may be able to find elsewhere for less money if you wanted to! I might even make videos showing some ideas I have for this 😊 hope this was helpful and it’s amazing to hear how well all your children are doing - each child is different and each of their developments are also unique 🤍

I recommend asking your pediatrican for referrals or searching for some local ones. There are programs as well like “early intervention” that many times are covered to low cost (pediatrican can refer to them) who can come to your home and do a private evaluation where they can give you recommendations 🤍 I know it’s easy to feel a bit defeated sometimes as parents but know that you are doing an amazing job & that you are the best teacher and advocate for your baby!! 🤍🤍
