I was curious how many ads I got on 3 different news websites and my adblock counted 107 ads. That's insane.

They are everywhere. But the mad thing is that those dozens of ads are only getting a tiny bit of revenue.

Now go do the same at an Army training barracks and do a comparison, please. They have a roof over their heads, a bed to sleep on and food and entertainment put on. Their basic needs are met. They do not deserve luxury.
@JournoModeАй бұрын
I think the key difference there is soldiers are paid and trained at those training barracks. Asylum seekers, who have fled from warzones, persecution and various issues, effectively have nothing and just want a secure home.

About 15% of the native, english population has not lived and will overwhelmingly likely, never live in such improved conditions. If your income is between 10 and 20k (10-14 of the uk pop is underclass) then your bedroom is likely half the size (8ft by 6) you dont have such a nice view. No gym, no computer room, nowhere to pray or be alone. You talk of it being "uni rooms" ive spent years in such, never with so many amenities, never with ensuites, and never charging less than £125 pw. Im sure living conditiona in the middle and even most of the working class are beyond this but the lower and underclass mostly endures far worse conditions. Thank you for your worthless writing though, you had an opportunity to have a soul and be like Orwell but like most english cowards you decided to not have a voice of your own.

I really wanted to be a journalist at school, but back then it was explained to me that you had to work for next to nothing at a local paper, and make yout way up to international (i wanted to do warzone) reporting. I wonder if its still like that? Is it worse now or better? I was put off by the unrewarded grind at the outset.

its amazing to see your work get reconised!! My question is; what are the most common misconceptions do you see people make about how journalism and polictics actually works (and tbh any other intrests or places your in the know about) . Because I think people just see the spetical, but no one sees the more mundane side. Which (well I think) is usually the more important and intresting/real things are happening. But again huge probs on hitting 1k. I reckon 10k isn't as far away as you think!!

Really enjoyed this! We often see counts through cameras of the journalists, but not through their eyes, and thats the different perspective you gave. Also, watching this, I have no idea who you may have voted for, which is a great sign and fundamental to a great journalistic communicator. This is the first of your videos i have seen, but looking forward to seeing more

Thank you! The important thing about reporting, especially on a local level, is to be balanced and neutral. Let the viewer/reader make up their own mind. I've always strived to do that in my work unless there's been a hedious incident that you can't be neutral on.

Fascinating.... Just to contrast in Australia... When we count our votes it is done at each polling booth after the booth closes. We did not have a central polling location, except for the national tally room, which is usually based in Canberra... Nor do we have the declaration of votes, and all that who ha that goes on in UK Elections.... Here is how our elections are run as a contrast... kzbin.infodiwQSdDP0u0?si=xL0YTf86P3hAYTPz

Just FYI the candidates are given the result and know the vote figures before they come onto stage, they are given them privately and have to either accept them or request a recount (only done when it’s a narrow result)
@JournoMode2 ай бұрын
Good explanation. Tbf I should have done a bit of narration to explain that but my microphone wasn't working!! Was up against it for the edit so just did the text overlay. You can usually tell from afar if a candidate is kicking off about the result. We had that with Chris Loder and how the ballot papers were stacked.
