Just want to add that the Kirkland PB is made with Valencia peanuts which I find superior.
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite 6 күн бұрын
100% I love them and the sweeter taste. I'm not sure why anyone would want added sugar in PB? Here is a few fun facts...Valencia peanuts are often considered better than other varieties because: Lower Aflatoxin Risk: Valencia peanuts have a lower likelihood of being contaminated with aflatoxins, toxic compounds produced by molds, compared to other types like runner peanuts. Sweeter Taste: They have a naturally sweeter flavor, making them great for snacking without added sugar. Nutritional Profile: They are high in protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients like magnesium and vitamin E, just like other peanuts. Ideal for Natural Peanut Butter: Their sweetness and low moisture content make them a favorite for making natural peanut butter. Grown in Dry Climates: Mostly grown in New Mexico and Texas, the dry climate further reduces the risk of mold. They're a great choice for those who prioritize flavor and safety in peanuts.

Start by identifying the main culprits in your pantry-check ingredient labels for oils like canola, soybean, sunflower, safflower, and corn oil. Replace them with healthier options like olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil and Ghee. For snacks, look for brands that use these alternatives or consider making your own versions of favorite treats. Involve the kids by teaching them about healthier swaps, and gradually transition meals like fried foods or baked goods to ones using healthier oils.

Hi Darren! I think you did a wonderful job filming this way! Hopefully you do more like this. I enjoyed watching you decide on products. The best part is that you mentioned food is what you want it to be. No need to be soooo picky on some items. You’re spot on with that advice, thank you! I also would like it if you could show us some food demos from items you’ve bought. I might get new recipes from you to try out, thanks! Good luck on your move, sometimes that can be a bit much with boxes and finding extra stuff you forgot about. Wishing you a Merry Christmas with family and friends!!

I really liked this type of video! Seeing you walk the aisles live and debate about your choices and how to shop efficiently was cool! Especially because we could see the different products side-by-side and really appreciate the differences between them and what fits our lifestyle based on cost and dietary needs. Also, I really appreciate how you don't strive for 'perfection' in foods and rather just healthier choices overall. A balanced diet makes up for the smaller things and it's definitely refreshing to hear how you can still be healthy as a whole without having to cut every tiny 'bad' thing fro your shopping list/diet. 🙌 Thanks for sharing! Your content is great and I appreciate the mixing up every once in a while!

highly caloric foods that are high in fats and low in carbs is not a problem because you are avoiding the randle cycle so long as you keep carb counts low. Combining fat and carbs in high amounts together is what causes weight gain, not being high fat, low carb or high carb low fat. Another massive misconception which isn't backed by any good science is sodium being enherently harmful to human health. It is harmless in low carb people and people with good metabolic health which is attainable through diet. Animal based, with a couple of fermented low carb foods, some raw dairy and you can heal your metabolism and consume any amount of sodium. If you dont have excess water weight, you cant store to much sodium and cause blood pressure rise
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite 22 күн бұрын
Well you pretty much summed up my entire premise and eating lifestyle. I always consume raw kefir and other fermented foods. I seldom consume more than 50 carbs and I use electrolytes for sodium. It's definitely not a one size fits all but making protein priority with less carbs and good healthy fats would work wonders for people. However I do disagree if people don't think they need to watch calories, if your eating more calories then your burning, you will gain weight. There are human randomized controlled trials (RCTs) demonstrating that consuming more calories than you burn leads to weight gain. One well-known study is the overfeeding study by Dr. Claude Bouchard in the 1990s. Participants were overfed by 1,000 extra calories per day for 100 days. All participants gained weight, but the amount varied due to differences in metabolism and how their bodies stored fat. Other RCTs have confirmed this principle using controlled diets where calorie intake and energy expenditure are tightly monitored. These studies consistently show a direct link between caloric surplus and weight gain. Thanks for the comment!! Best Regards

@healthylivingrite ive seen these pieces of data. They don't show cause and effect outcomes on humans as they are to confounded and cannot be extrapolated and applied to dietary context not used in the RCT. I would refer you to professor ben bickmans experiments that show that without the presence of certain threshold of insulin, you cannot store into fat cells, but instead you can literally excrete extra and un used energy. This is mechanistic speculation but it's technically cause and effect, unlike the confounded nutrition science you referenced In order to get causal data out of nutrition science you need experimentation. The ethics committee does not allow that on nutrition at this time. This is why I tell people to look to other hard science fields because we see a trend in which other hard science fields have high real world utility. Its definitely more reliable than nutrition science as you also don't get any hard health outcomes from nutrition science either unfortunately. But good luck on future videos. I hope I gave you an alternative outlook perspective on the sciences of human health

I am very familiar with Dr. Bikman and have read many of his studies and findings on the varying effects of dietary macronutrients (e.g. carbohydrates vs. fats) on insulin homeostasis, the effects of insulin on brown adipose tissue (and metabolic rate), and insulin-induced brain alterations. Great Stuff!!! I love his dedication. I am an avid participant in his wonderful courses, The Metabolic Classroom. Thank you for your valued feedback and comments. I greatly appreciate positive feedback like this. I learn from interactions such as this. Have a wonderful holiday and be well!

@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite 23 күн бұрын
Not necessarily. While grass-fed, grass-finished beef means the cattle were fed a diet of only grass or forage their entire lives, organic beef has additional requirements, such as: Cattle must be raised on certified organic pastures. No synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or GMOs are allowed on the feed or land. No antibiotics or growth hormones can be used. Organic certification requires strict record-keeping and inspections. So, grass-fed, grass-finished beef can be organic, but it’s only guaranteed if it carries the USDA Organic label.

I don't speak English well, but as a doctor I can definitely say that the collagen you consume in food supplements is absolutely useless, because 1. the human body synthesizes a sufficient amount of collagen on its own, and 2. the collagen that gets into your stomach is broken down into amino acids, which will then be assembled into other proteins

Great video...I have the pistachio and macadamia nuts..great to snack in moderation...it was surprising to see all the sources from outside of the US for sure. Any difference between organics in this category?
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite 24 күн бұрын
Thank you so much!!! Pistacios are great for natural GLP-1. When to Prioritize Organic: If you eat a lot of raw or roasted nuts, choosing organic for those most prone to pesticide use (almonds, peanuts, and cashews) is a good idea. For nut butters (e.g., peanut butter or almond butter), organic can help ensure minimal chemical residue in processed products. Hope this helps...
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite 24 күн бұрын
Here is a little more info to help when deciding on organic or not... Nuts That Are Better Organic Almonds: Conventionally grown almonds are often sprayed with pesticides, and in the U.S., non-organic almonds are usually pasteurized with steam or chemicals (propylene oxide). Cashews: While the nut itself is protected by a shell, organic cashews may ensure better labor practices and fewer chemicals used in the processing. Peanuts: As a legume, peanuts are often treated with heavy pesticides and can have mold or aflatoxin issues. Organic peanuts may reduce this risk. Nuts Less Dependent on Organic Walnuts: The hard shell protects the nut from direct pesticide exposure. Organic is less critical. Pecans: Similar to walnuts, their shell acts as a barrier, so conventional options are usually fine. Macadamia Nuts: These have low pesticide use in farming, so organic is not essential. Chestnuts: They’re typically grown without significant chemical treatments, so organic is not necessary. Brazil Nuts: These are mostly wild-harvested in the Amazon, so pesticide use is minimal.

What nutrients are destroyed in Pasturizing milk..
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite Ай бұрын
Vitamin C: Sensitive to heat, pasteurization destroys most of the small amount found in milk. B Vitamins: Thiamin (B1) and Vitamin B12 can decrease slightly during pasteurization Probiotics and Enzymes: Raw milk's natural enzymes and beneficial bacteria are destroyed during pasteurization.
@healthylivingrite
@healthylivingrite Ай бұрын
Also some food for thought about homogenized milk.. Homogenized milk might raise concerns for some people because the process breaks down fat molecules into smaller sizes, which could alter how they interact with the body. Some studies suggest that this could: Affect Arterial Health: Homogenization might allow certain enzymes, like xanthine oxidase, to be absorbed into the bloodstream, potentially damaging epithelial cells in blood vessels, leading to heart issues. However, this claim lacks robust scientific evidence. Trigger Inflammation: Small fat molecules may bypass normal digestion and enter the bloodstream more easily, which could theoretically contribute to inflammatory responses. Promote Food Sensitivities: The alteration of milk’s structure during homogenization might affect how the immune system reacts to milk proteins, potentially irritating the gut lining.
