Was at the apartments on 12th and Hwy 9 this night. Basically right in the path. The change in wind speed/direction was actually insane to witness in-person. Powerlines went down just at the apartment entrance, trees were bent, and insulation from the adjacent apartments was everywhere.

That’s exactly what happened to Joplin in 2011.. tornado was rain wrapped and gave little to no warning of when it would hit.. and it’s why so many people died in that tornado.. rain wrapped tornadoes are some of the freakiest stuff in nature

That was the strangest chase and footage of a tornado I’ve ever seen. It looked like a dust devil but it was obviously raining. Crazy footage

Hi. FYI, I have watched seminars where directors of emergency management & first responders have all said that IF a member of the public (including storm spotters/chasers) is not highly trained in emergency response and/or not properly equipped to do search & rescue, they should stay away from the scene of the disaster. Apparently there have been situations where well-meaning members of the public (including storm spotters & chasers) have clogged up roads leading into disaster areas, which signficantly slowed down the process of search & rescue, getting ambulances in & out of the area, etc. Furthermore, in this day & age, the overwhelming majority of tornadoes are spotted & tracked by NWS meteorologists, law enforcement, storm spotters/chasers & local residents, so emergency management & first responders usually reach the areas impacted by a tornado very soon after it strikes a town/city. Finally, it must be said that improper search & rescue/first aid can lead to serious injuries/death to the members of the public and/or the victims of the disaster. Also, quite a few storm spotters/chasers got into the avocation because they or their town was hit by a tornado, so - along with previous experience doing search & rescue - they may have some PTSD & would not necessarily make good decisions or be productive in any further search & rescue efforts. Instead, in such cases, storm spotters/chasers can be of great help to the NWS & people in the path of the same tornado if the storm spotters/chasers continued to monitor the tornado (..or if the tornado dissipates, spotters/chasers can monitor the supercell to see if it 'cycles' & creates another tornado...). So, IMHO, we should not criticize storm spotters/chasers who return to a disaster area, but at the same time, we should always remember that it is up to the individual storm spotters/chasers to decide what is best, and that may mean not returning to the area struck by a tornado.

Anyone else notice the truck speeding into it and slamming its breaks at 6:27, and at 6:42 there is possibly an airborne vehicle flying off? Well, it appears to be debris, sorry. Although, I do wonder what happened to that truck.

It hit Matador hard, from what I hear. I grew up in the panhandle, when we get a storm up there, it's quite often wrapped. I was watching you and screaming "go, go, go." My dogs even got to barking, I was making so much noise. That was way too close.

I’m over off of 24th and Lindsey, and we took shelter when the sirens went on, then they turned off, the power went out, and the sirens came back on, then we were listening to ambulance and fire sirens for the better part of 2 hours. OG&E got power back on in under 50 minutes. Reagan Elementary was unscathed, but Washington lost some playground equipment from my understanding. KOCO mentioned rotation near NWC, but immediately went back to following what was going on in Mcloud and Newalla and we had no clue a tornado happened under a mile from us until we got ahold of someone on the non-emergency line.
