So interesting point here, i know why the instructions say to attach the fins first before inflating the kayak. In my instructions it shows illustrations for attaching the bottom fins to a totally different kayak. That kayak has a totally different design for the fin mounts that does require the kayak to be deflated in order to fit the fin on. I think they just left that instruction step on accident as an oversight. So i would just go ahead and not attatch fins first, do them last, it makes the most sense anyway.

NATIVES call it RenovA. my dad corrects me cuz his grandparents lived there for a short time. my great grandpa worked at the shops after he left the rdg in philly. his house was near the soccer field. i live not far from renovo in beech creek a nyc not far from prr that is nber uses.. the yard and shop closes in the 60s when altoona was the main place for repairs. the buff line starts at cp rockville/rockville bridge and runs all the way to driftwood where wnyp takes over for a section. the orig line from emporium toward olean is a trail. i got a lot of photos of the line and went out to get photos of the old prr signals in the no mans land section btwn drury and sinnemahoning. theres a book about the the phila and erie that owned the line first. it has a section about the shops, how ornate the buildings were for a middle of nowhere town. i will try and do video on it in the future.if you want to see some cool rr related places LMK. i followed you btw can you sub back. prr gave nyc trackage rights btwn mcelhatten and keating so they could reach the coal mines of clearfield area. prr also went to cfd but they went via the old bellefonte and snow shoe rr, the line from cresson north and via the track from vail north of tyrone. btw NO POWER PLANT. penn pilot is a good source of ariel photos.

Nice video! The area you walk into around 30 minutes at trythall rd was once warwick woods campground. My family stayed for several years they closed not long after we left and sold everything at auction I believe including the property. There was a storage barn next to the trail at the end if the road.

It's been a long time since I've been on that trail, probably JP's meetup was the last time. So I enjoyed seeing gate update. That's cool they cleared out the vegetation that was covering the rails on the east side of the trail and the old foundations near the water tower on the spur. I also need to get out there to see the Dragon Cement switcher since they repainted it.

you were right about the rail line running behind the Fork & Ail on what is now a street. That stretch of track went into the old armer cast plant a division of Birdsboro Steel where they built tanks during the 2nd world war . I'm glad I stumbled into you're videos they bring some nice memories back. And that bridge was still standing in the 70's but I don't remember when they tore it down.

The old foundation you noted as a barn is an old mill that burned down years ago. Across 724 from the aqueduct is an old dam but I couldn't find out what it was for when we were kids we would swim in it. Also if you go a little east of town there is another aqueduct on the left but it is in ruins.

At 17:35 in your Video; you should have kept going. That would have taken you over the 183 Bridge; which crosses the Schuylkill River. Then off the Bridge; make a Left onto that road. Keep going; and you pick up the Union Canal Trail; which will eventually take you to Blue Marsh Lake. BTW; have to tell you; that part of the Trail where you stopped; till the part of the Trail where RAAC is on your Left Hand Side is in a REALLY BAD part of Reading; Pa. Not Kidding. 2 individuals were actually shot in that general area about 1.5 years ago. One Survived; one didn't.

Yes, I am aware where the trail ends and where the Union Canal one begins. I have made other videos on the Union Canal towpath trail. I know that the section of trail past RACC isn't the greatest, but I always have some form of protection on me so I'm not worried.

Hi Randy. I have enjoyed your videos and I also know a lot about Valley Forge NHP. So I am compelled to share some information with you. First - always start at the Visitor’s Center. That is my policy. They would likely give you lots of information that would have been helpful in your search. Of course they will also let you know which areas are restricted; like County Line Road, in spite of the fact that many people go there anyway. There were multiple quarries in the park. You can see that clearly on the old photo that you shared. The standard park map also gives you a good idea of where they are, although they are not marked. The easiest quarry to see is at the VC parking lot. The entire lot is in a quarry! You can also easily see the vertical wall of the quarry that was just to the north from the parking lot and from the sidewalk up to the VC. The train tracks ran along the north side of County Line Road where it intersects with Rt.23. Heading west from there it branched off in several directions. I have not seen any evidence of the rail bed. VF is truly a fun place to explore. Someday you should look for the remnants of the Schuylkill Navigation in the park. BTW the old spring water plant is on the Mt. Misery Trail. It is easy to find.
@emeraldsoundproductions
@emeraldsoundproductions 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info. I did check the national park service website before heading there. County Line Road is only restricted to the public Monday through Friday, as I was there on Saturday. I also located where the bottling plant was so there will be a return trip to document that and the rest of the quarries sometime in the future when there are no leaves on the trees and everything is dead.
