Thanks for the video. I've been watching several different peoples videos on mind mapping and this was very useful. Much appreciated. :)

You help me so much with these videos! I understand why my project got so few points (I did it in a rush just to try out an application and see how much I got for CV & proposal). But this year I want to better my CV and read a lot before rewriting my proposal and cover the stuff you mentioned. I also will ask for advice from two professors who supervised my MA thesis. I was so confused about all this and other videos were so vague. You are great! What are you up yo these days?

To you beautiful human, I wish you all the peace and happiness in life. Just wanted to share a practice that has significantly helped me in depression. Wanted to share this with you that maybe it just helps you out even one tiny bit. Please take a holistic approach (meting a counsellor, friends, loved ones, exercise, healthy diet , healthy sleep, taking it day by day), with all that you are already doing. Please try this breathing exercise meditation for a few minutes. Initially you can do this twice a day ,once comfortable you may increase however you feel like. Please try this persistently daily two sessions at least. The method is explained in the video below. Please do try out and have a wonder fulfilled life :) Sit in a comfortable and quiet place. Close your eyes. Each ingress or inhale inwards should carry the word 'Allah' to the core of heart and every egress or exhale outwards should bring the word 'Hoo' out to strike the heart. That would create a rhythm of Allah Hoo in every breath. You should however, not try to make these words with the sound of your breath, because the Zikr is not done with the breath but with heart. This spiritual practice should be done twice a day at least for 5 minutes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXqtnYhmoahojKM

This is all great advice, thank you for sharing. A lot of your tips were actually super helpful for my interview - especially the advice about rereading your proposal. I applied back in Jan, and was interviewed 6 months later, so in that time I had done a lot of reading and my ideas had developed a lot further.

Hi lucy, Thanks a lot for your video. I had my phd interview today. It went really well but i am so concerned about the supervisor. I feel i didn't get a good vibe. He didn't respond to any of my emails before the interview. During the interview, I was answering a question and i said do you want me to elaborate? He said, yes that's the whole point of the question. Also at the end when i asked about his supervising style, he said he grows with his students, he doesn't know everything. The topic i applied for hadn't been done by him before. I am so anxious 😢

Thank you for sharing your personal experience, I found it very insightful and inspiring. I am currently doing my dissertation on experiences of navigating HE for students with dyslexia! To break down the negative stereotypes that are commonly associated with dyslexia we need more people like you who have the confidence to talk about your personal experiance in a transparent and coherent way. Very good job!!

Thank you for this! I'm finishing my LLB this month and have been hired as a research assistant for my lecturer's socio-legal LLD. I'm super excited but daunted because I've obviously never done such a volume of research before. This video has really helped me visualise the processes that will help. Thank you! 💗

Super helpful, Lucy! I found it especially valuable how you mentioned that there'll be heaps of info I find interesting but which I don't need to take notes on (especially if I have a million other things to read) because its not relevant to my thesis.

Omg! So hard to stand up to a supervisor and advocate for my need to balance paid work with the PhD. Definitely something I need to practice.

Super helpful video. I have a stipend, but it doesn't even cover my living expenses - and that's saying something since I live in social housing. It's nice to know I'm not alone having to juggle paid work with PhD stuff.

Easily the most helpful video on KZbin about a humanities PhD. There's heaps about the sciences which have some helpful takeaways, but your channel has been a lifeline. It's so motivating to know that someone else know's what my PhD is like. Thanks for adding value, Lucy!❤

Hi, I am a full-time lecturer in FE but want to do PhD full time, is this possible? I don't want to wait 6/7 years to complete it.
@chloe_steward Жыл бұрын
A full time PhD takes 40 hours a week on average. If you can for in 30-40 hours of creative, deep thinking, go for it. But I'd suggest dropping down to 20 hours a week paid work (MAX) so manage a full time PhD.
