I remember I had recently moved the South Texas that year but flew up to meet the girlfriend and spend some time with her. She had the work that night and so I watched the game but what I remember the most was walking the dog. The wind was blowing that crisp fall weather with the chill in the air. One of the only times I ever got homesickness in my life. Imagine what these teams could have been had. They had an ownership that actually invested in them.
Mark Buehrle accomplishments: -2005 World Series champion -No hitter in 2007 -Perfect game in 2009 Too bad he won't be in Cooperstown, but he deserves to be remembered.

My pitching coach growing up told me to watch Hampton to learn how to be in a fielding position after the pitch. Making plays off the mound was one of my favorite things to do as a pitcher and I found myself snagging a few grounders almost every game that would have otherwise turned into hits. Hampton was a great player to emulate.

My first Astros game. I had zero clue what was going on nor did I really care about baseball. I always remembered Berkman getting thrown out though.

The way he was treated by the team sucked...he was our best player for years. Injuries messed up his career. Wish they had handled it better. The new Netflix doc doesn't make him look good in terms of how he handled it.

I remember those early 2000s years. Before the rings, there was nomar. It was who’s the top SS in the game? A rod, Nomar or Tejada..and Nomar was OURS.

Baseball is a weird sport. There's a bunch of 90s Yankees with 4 or 5 World Series rings who made tons of All-Star teams who don't seem like they'll ever even sniff the Hall of Fame. Paul O'Neil 5 (one with the Reds), Bernie Williams 4, Tino Martinez 4, Jorge Posada 5, Chuck Knoblauch 4 (one with the Twins), Joe Girardi 4 (one as a Yankees manager), Andy Pettite 5, David Cone 5, even Chili Davis 3 and 2400 hits- these teams have dozens of combined All-Star appearances, gold gloves, silver sluggers, top-10 MVP finishes, and David Cone won the CYA earlier in his career, and yet it seems like only Jeter and Rivera will end up in the HOF. And that doesn't include Roger Clemens, who has a legit claim on being the best pitcher of all time with 7 Cy Youngs. It's not unprecedented, because the Yankees have a bunch of players with 6, 7, and 8 rings who aren't in the HOF, but this Yankees group was the only one to win 4+ world series since Mickey Mantle and many of them had a bunch of individual accolades and counting stats that were impressive, but not the 500hr/3000hit threshold. I guess with seasons so long and so few postseason games/series, they just focus almost exclusively on the regular season? Maybe it's because the Yankees dominated so long that the sport adjusted to focus on regular season performance because the Yankees had players like Yogi Berra with 10 rings and Lou Gehrig with 8 rings who never played together.

Guillermo Mota should not have been allowed in Major League Baseball. He was a headhunter and nothing more. Just like Armando Benitez was with Baltimore.
